We have an ADR for The Wave for 11/1 for dinner. We're staying at the Poly and will be in MK that day. We'd like to stick with the plan of eating some where relatively close to both. I've been reading mixed reviews of The Wave so I'd like to consider somewhere else. Ohana is fully booked, and we don't want to use 2 TS credits for California Grill. We have reservations for Kona another night. Any other suggestions? Somewhere in GF?

Our favorite find was Kona's Grill in the Poly food was good and service was great. O'Hana's is family style but is good.. IN GF Grand Floridian grill was good night we there.:thumbsup2 we are trying this trip to go to California Grill as our 2 TS meal as we always do one..a trip.. rest we use 1 TS...we are going to also try Kona's for breakfast this trip the first mornng as we hear is so good:dance3: hope you have as good a time as we hope to in 12 mpre days Wave was not bad but seems so sterile in there....:confused3...In Mk we like Liberty tree Tavern for dinner is family style but good. also is Tonys Town square but to me is like Fazolis :scared1:but many like it.

In the park, your choices are CP (character buffet), LTT (non-character, family style, traditional American food), or Tony's (Italian, nice location, a lot of poor food reviews). Only other 1 TS options at monorail resorts are 1900PF (character buffet) and GF Cafe (regular menu), both at GF.

I'd say the GF Cafe is closest to the same type of restaurant as The Wave in terms of a somewhat quieter, less overtly-Disney-themed restaurant. If that's the vibe you're looking for then this is the best choice.

BUT - CP is a classic and has the advantage of being in the park. 1900PF, IMHO, is the best character dinner for adults because you get Cindy's Stepmom and Stepsisters, and they are really good about interacting with all guests and staying in character. It's the closest thing you can get anymore to a Villains meal.

Whispering Canyon, Citricos or if you feel like a boat ride and buffet, Trails End.

The Wave is quite good and I would highly recommend it. Rather than make changes based on anonymous on-line reviews, try it out and decide for yourself!

As others have stated Whispering Canyon cafe and Grand Floridian Cafe are both close enough for a very good 1 TS credit meal.

Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare are great character buffets.

In the Magic Kingdom itself there is Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, Tony's and the Plaza Restaurant. There is also Cosmic Rays for a great counter service meal.

I've eaten at The Wave twice and it is my favorite restaurant on the monorail for dinner.

In reality I wouldn't let a review anywhere, even here, change my mind about a place I want to eat. Not only can a restaurant or chef have a bad day but what is considered good and bad is subjective. You and I could sit next to each other in a restaurant and eat the exact same meal at the exact same time prepared the exact same way and one of us could love it while the other hates it.

I'd agree with the recommendations to stick with The Wave. I've heard much more good than bad, and the only way to find new favorites to give it a shot.

Personally I would stick with the Wave, the food is awesome! If you really want to cancel I would go to GFC at the GF, another excellent place

I totally agree. I depend on menus, not reviews.

Well, then maybe I will stick with the Wave! I originally decided on it because I'm a vegetarian and it seemed like a good choice for everyone in our party.

GF cafe sounds like it could be a good choice too, maybe for another night.

Thanks!

We love the Wave and always eat several meals there. We also like the GFC, but I don't think it can compare to the Wave.

Stick with the Wave. Other than Kona, which you are already going to, every other restaurant on the monorail line is either a step up, which you say you don't want, or a step down. I would not consider Whispering Canyon or GFC a fair substitute for the Wave.

I vote for the Wave!

Gets me a chance to goto the Contemporary and shop around and stuff. Plus, good food and amazing atmosphere.

The bread is amazing too (lol)

I, too, read the so-so reviews of The Wave last year before our trip. Like FireDancer said, it's all subjective. If you like the sound of the items on the menu, give it a go. The very worst thing that could happen -- sans dying from food poisoning -- is you don't go back. I'm glad we went; the server was nice and the meal was good.

Stick with The Wave.. went this past trip for the first time and it was awesome. I will definitely be returning, ambiance and food were both excellent. Our waitress was top notch too. Have fun whatever you choose!

I am one of the anonymous bad review people. I wanted to warn people about the HEALTH concerns that happened when I dined there last January. Anybody can disagree about what the food tastes like there, but I don't see a hair in your food and beverages served in dirty glasses as being in any way subjective. Hopefully, that was a one time event, but I thought people here should know about it.

I agree with this. No amount of rave reviews will ever get me to set foot into Biergarten.:sick::sick:
