this my attempt in trying to be politically correct. but when does this event take place (alternative lifestyle week)and has it ever caused anyone any embarassment in front of your kids.and is there any one resort that is more popular than others.

my kids never noticed anything.

From what I understand, if you plan to be there while the gaydays group will be there (or any large group) then you can llok at their schedule at the link given earlier and just go to other parks. I think they will be there June 3----? I will be there June 1-5 with my niece and we will just go to other parks. I don;t want to be judgemental in any way, but I also do not want to answer my niece's questions that my sister may prefer to answer.

Oh- welcome to the DIS!!

Welcome to the DIS STINKY PETE. I'm glad you found us and hope you enjoy planning your trip.

The dates of this event for 2003 is 6/3 through 6/9.

My family and I usually go to WDW the first two weeks of June. We have been there several years during this time, and it rarely has been anything you would even notice. The one exception was we went to Magic Kingdom last year on the Saturday that was the unofficial gay day at MK. (It is June 7th this year) I would suggest you do not go that day if for no other reason then it was the most crowded I have ever seen that park. We left after about an hour as it was almost impossible to do anything the crowd was so large.

A co-worker of mine who is very religious & conservative (not accepting of alternative lifestyles) was very bothered when their visit coincided with gay days. She still goes on about it years later whenever she knows I've been to WDW - it seems that one day at the MK (that was they only day the itineraries overlapped) is her overriding memory of the trip.

I have no kids, so it changes my view, but I go every year during Gay days, due to a work conference. I've never seen anything that would cause problems for anyone, unless they're desperately searching for it.

It is, however, best to avoid MK that Saturday, and I'd avoid PI on Friday night and Saturday night. I'm of the crowd that believes PI can be a fun experience for a child, but this is one place during Gay Days where you may end up having to do some explaining.

Beyond that, I find it to be a normal visit to Disney. The Gay Day participants tend to be young, which means they tend to be loud, but it's not a heck of a lot different than Spring Break.

I agree with the other posters that have said that the biggest thing to be concerned about is the crowds in the MK on that Saturday, everything else should be fine. There are gays & lesbians in the parks every day of the year and they are there to enjoy the parks just like everyone else.
