Hello

My son is really into pin trading and has lots of pins that he would love to bring along but he will wear his lanyard for about 30 min and then want to pass it on to me - I am having some back problems and know that this year I cannot carry it..do they sell the waist lanyard the cm's use? If no anyone have any other clever ways to carry - I thought about using felt squares and he can carry them in his fanny bag.

I've seen people with them on their hats. Don't know how that would feel against his head though.

I have my traders only on my hat. The rest I leave at home.

I saw one of the waist lanyards on eBay. Not sure if they sell them in the stores...I am sure they will.

I put half on one lanyard & half on another & switched off days. Or sometimes, I just pick out my 5-6 faves & leave the others at home.

I would suggest carrying them any way that is comfortable. You could use felt squares, but I would be worried that my child may put the square down and forget it somewhere. I guess it would just depend on the child. I would suggest putting them on a hat, or if you son is wearing a fanny pack you could put them on the fanny pack.

hi dont they still sell the pin waLLETS? my daughter has a tink one x

I have seen them on hats and backpacks... I have a little disneypack that I wear across my chest and on the straps I put some of my pins... The lanyard does get tiring after awhile...

I use a fannypack, but be careful - get the locking pin backs that they sell wherever pins are sold. I lost a few pins the first time I used the fanny pack, because they were on the rubber backs.

I’ve actually made my own hip lanyards. You can go to a craft shop like AC Moore or Michael’s & buy the small fabric bags. I got a pack of 5 for five bucks. I also bought a grommet tool kit which punched the hole in the bag & inserted the grommet. Cut the bag handles off, add a keychain/waistchain type attachment through the washer so the bag can attach to your hip & your set.

I considered making more & selling them on ebay, but for the best results, I think you need to sew on some Velcro tabs to keep the bag shut{assuming you only grommet one side of the bag}. This way, you not only can attach your pins on the front, but can store extra pins or pinbacks in the bag itself. But I have no sewing ability, so I haven’t gotten around to selling any yet. But someday.

we always have the problem of our pins getting 'ripped' off from our lanyards (not stolen, just falling off or getting caught on something). This happens on our fanny packs, lanyards or my dd's little disney denim pocketbook. we are forever finding the pins on the ground, or just losing them altogether. very, very annoying! i've thought of the idea that whatever is used to hold the pins needs a clear material over the front to prevent anything from catching on the pins, and also something to protect the back so the pin-backs also don't get caught on anything. I love the idea of the small fabric bags... that will fix the backs from getting caught or just falling off, then maybe attaching (somehow????) some sort of clear material over the front. any crafty people want to offer some ideas on how to do this? or any other ideas??? I'm tired of looking down and my favorite pins being gone. and i don't think i want to do the 'locking' backs... are they a pain to take on and off?

My son got the cowboy hat from Animal kingdow which came with a few pins on, this is ideal to put pins on as they don't hurt their head, also good for any hot weather, keeps the sun off them.

We use a Tink small pin bag and a bigger one (tink of course) for DD while she is in the parks.

But someone else suggested using a CD case that has belt loops and running a web belt through it as a great alteritive .It should be able to hold 25 or more pins and protect them well.

I'm not sure if disneyshopping.com has them anymore, but they used to have a fanny pack that had the velour sheets for carrying pins. I bought one for my September trip and it was great. :goodvibes:

I bought a black cotton vest several years ago and used it a couple of time to wear my pins. I think that 40 was the max I carried and it was pretty heavy. 20 seamed to be the perfect number and it really was not as uncomfortale as wearing them around your neck.

My son will only wear his lanyard for a little while, as well. I've gotten to the point that I just give him a few to keep in his pocket for trading. The ones he wants to keep stay in one pocket and the trades in the other.

Or I keep his lanyard in the diaper bag. If you don't have a baby or carry a bag, I guess that does not help you, though.

Hello all~

I want to start my DD6 pin trading on our Jan. trip.

The trip is her Christmas present, so I would like to have some for her to open Christmas morning...

Are there sets to get started? Can they be bought only in WDW?

I'm a bit nervous about ebay, although I have already purchased a lanyard there.

What do ya'll think???

:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

They sell starter sets at disney but they come with the lanyard. Otherwise you can buy small ones at the disney store and I've also bought them at disneyshopping.com.
