I am taking my parents on what is starting to be a family joke about their "last trip" to see the Christmas lights. We have now had three successful last trips.:goodvibes

Mom has dementia and is over 90 so we are never sure if we can do it again. We are blessed but it is also very difficult to continue to escort them by myself. The rest of my siblings are no help and this year my children can not go.

I am trying to figure out a better way to do TOT. Yes, my mother still loves it.:woohoo: Dad won't ride but she loves it.

Her vision is really nonexistent in a dark place. Getting her through the lobby, into the TV room, and then through that dark themed basement is getting near impossible.:confused3

Has any one had any success with using an alternate entrance for this attraction?

For example in HM we enter the exit to avoid the dark walking places.

She will have a wheel chair, but can walk for a time, sometimes. We have always walked on to this one. Where do wheel chairs enter and how? Would that help us?

The wheelchairs are mainstreamed in this ride. However they do let you take the chair right up to the door. And will put you in line one so you will not need to climb steps.

After the ride wait till everyone is off the cast members would have moved the wheelchiar to the exit. It is about a 20 foot walk. But it has more light there than the queue to the ride. If last off you have no aniexty of being pushed by anyone.

So to stop having any difficulty and so she can enjoy it I would take the wheel chair all the way to the beginning of the ride.

Also I must say any 90 year that can do tower of terror deserves a special golden Mickey :)

yeap, I was in my chair straight up until getting onto the elevator itself. I took a grand whopping,I dunno, five- ten steps? to get into my seat. Unfortunately we are both old and senile and can't remember how close the WC was when I got off, but If my fuzzy brain is correct, within 20 paces....

My DD can't walk at all (unless someone is holding her up), so her walk in and out was less than 5 steps.

For the OP, if someone in your party can bring the wheekchair closer, it can be brought very close to the elevator seat.

Whilst I appreciate they are usually very efficient we did have a problem with one trip where they didn't bring the wheelchair back to us - we still had to get off so they could continue the ride and I ended up leaning against a pillar for some time until they eventually located the chair and brought it to us. Having said which the other half dozen times I have ridden there has been no problem.
