We had to cancel due to illness - we had a bug attack the family and I didn't think and the GP agreed that was it inappropriate for us to drive for 6 hours or to mix (and therefore spread) the bug.

We orginally booked in NY as part of a 1 night extra deal and 15% off.

For my new booking we are going to DCR for same number of nights but for MORE money. :furious: To be honest I think DCR will suit us better as the kids will get bedrooms and we will be able to have some time in the evenings. I explained what happened to Disney when booking and they didn't shift at all on the cost. We will be out by about £200 and therefore will need to cut down our daily spend. The travel insurance will pay for the original costs but won't over the 'difference' for the new booking.

I did email Disney, via the website, to see if there is any goodwill. The answer came back as no. :sad2:

I know next time that I should travel reagrdless and take any bugs with us to protect my families holiday experience. The GP confirmed we had Gastroentris which is very infectous.

I am dissappointed with Disney on this - I know it is not their fault but I also know that they have had £560 from me and that a bug into their hotels or park would not be good. I'm not looking for upgrade or anything as big, a goodwill gesture on cost or meal or hotel fast passes would be fine to see that they understood and more importantly cared about their customers.

We are going again on Sunday 25th - not sure I can be bothered to reply to Disney as I get the impression that they don't care.

Sorry about the ramble - just needed to get it off my chest.

I can understand you being fustrated at having to pay more money however I don't agree that Disney owe you something because of this, I pressume that the holiday Insurance is covering you for the orginal holiday which you canceled due to illness and you would of got this money even if you decided not to rebook.

When you rebooked you were booking a NEW holiday so it would be expected that you would have to pay current brochure prices and have new terms and conditions, and you accepted these conditions and prices by booking.

The insurance is covering the original cost and I wasn't 'expecting' anything as a right. I just thought they were a little bit more customer focused. They effectively made free money from my last booking.

I do see where your coming from on this however it would be the same with any Travel company.

I know its frustrating as well, after we booked they started a "get a night free" promotion which we missed out on as we booked before. That just the way it is.

Hope you have a lovely holiday anyway. :goodvibes

I agree it's very frustrating but I don't think you would have got full enjoyment of your holiday when you were all ill. I can never leave booking things till last minute as there are 5 of us, and I invariably book something then find it is cheaper the next week!

I am sure you will really enjoy staying at the Ranch, it comes very highly recommended. :)

We enjoyed our stay at DCR; have a look at the trip report, so it may work out for the best :)
