Here's my germy pet peeve:
At Mass on Sundays, when you have the sign of peace and you have to turn to your neighbor (front, back, left, right) and shake hands. It makes me crazy when I know that the person next to me has been sneezing or coughing into their right hand all during the serviceAnd, there's really no polite way NOT to shake their hand. I've actually taken to bringing a pocket sized bottle of Purell in my purse so I can get rid of their germs! At the very least, I try not to touch my eyes or nose until I can wash my hands.
I don't like the fact that you shake hands with all these people in church (you don't even know if they're sick or not) then you have communion when host is placed in your hands and then you bring your hand up to your mouth

I don't drink the wine at communion but I watch each person drink from the cup and they so carefully wipe the cup with a plain cloth inbetween people like they think it's going to erase the other person's germs.
The funny thing is that we use all these antibacterial gels and wipes but the majority of the time it is a virus that causes us to get sick. Do these products kill viruses?
