Already wish I didn't sell

I just looked at the price of rooms at WDW:scared1: Because we had our DVC for the past 4 or 5 years I never noticed how much you have to pay for how little you get.

It is going to be very hard to learn to go to regular room. I don't ever see us in a value so we will have to pay for a mod or above. I hope to us our AP discounts for 35% off rack rate and only go at season Value 1.

I just send the papers back....I wonder if I could call and have them rip them up? Just wishing.

Very sorry you are having this dilemma....I couldn't think of selling ours and staying value either.

From your posts, I've been surprised that you wanted to sell. You said your child sees the zippers and questions whether it's all real. But isn't that ok? I never went as a child so I never experienced that phase of loving Disney. But aren't there many phases? I know I love it and plan to go every year. There is so much to do in Orlando that I know it's a great vacation spot for me and my family.

Don't do something you're going to regret for years. Or at least wait until you're sure.

We are adding on to our ownership for that very reason -
I know this is going to sound stupid - but every time I'm on a Disney Cruise I go to the DVC presentations just as a reminder of how cost effective and fantastic DVC really is.

When you calculate the costs of going to WDW - or anywhere else for that matter - for a week or more until 2060 - the cost of ownership is very low compared to the cost of NOT owning.

If I were you I'd would definitely be on the phone!

Especially if you plan on vacationing at WDW every year, the cost will only increase far faster than dues ever possibly could - thus making the value of your DVC ownership ever more valuable as the years pass!

Change is hard sometimes but you had your reasons :) My DD is turning 18 and she went to the "world" every year for 11 years without fail.....having said that she is now taking her first "solo" trip with friends to Cuba on March break. Time stands still for no man....evident from our little ones growing up, but she cherishes those memories and even mentioned to me the other day about buying in again.....yup....it's the circle of life :wizard: You'll recover and when the bug bites again you can look at it again.....it's not going anywhere.

Sorry to hear your regrets.

I am just becoming a DVC member for the first time. We were fortunate to stay in BWV, Beach Club Concierge level, and the Swan resort during our first three trips to Disney and were convinced that DVC was a great deal since we were "spoiled" with these great accomodations during our first trip. We've never been to the value or moderate resorts but when we realized we could vacation in "better then deluxe" accomodations for moderate rates, we knew DVC was the right choice.

I'm sure when the time is right, and if your vacation plans would make it worth while, you will be a DVC owner again.

I think you are allowed to change your mind?! If you are that regretful, call them up and talk with them, I know I would. I think you can back out.

Otherwise, you can look for a new contract :), and maybe get more points....

Oh I am so sorry...but you know what? You can always buy in again when/if you're ready. DVC isn't going anywhere, and neither is WDW. Enjoy seeing more of the world than just EPCOT (as you mentioned in your other thread, I think ;) ).

As for us, my DS's have been fortunate enough to have traveled to many countries at young ages (DH being an airline employee). Now that their baby sister is only 11 months young, we plan on spending our vacays within the US, until she is potty trained (at least!) -- so DVC makes perfect sense to us. (Plus, whenever I ask DS's where they'd like to go for vacation, the only answer I get is still a unanimous "Disneyworld!")

If you are having major doubts about selling, can you still cancel the sale at this point? Just wondering.

If you need to sell, you can still rent DVC points for your vacations. That way you can have the rooms you are used to without being tied down to the contract.

You should call TSS but I believe listing agreements generally (and almost always) provide that you will have to pay the commission if you cancel since the resale broker lined up a buyer for you. Meaning, you might have to pay money to "get" your contract back.

My daughter is almost 20, and she loves going to WDW. At first I thought she might just be humoring me, but I found a post she made online with a picture of the castle and just the word "May!!" So, it's good to know she's looking forward to the trip. I think in the future she'll want to use my points and take friends, and that's okay with me.

I understand your regret and your reasons for selling. I think if I thought about selling, I'd try renting my points for a couple of years before making that final decision.

I have enjoyed so many trips with our children, and a few with just the DW and I. Our DVC has become an extension of our family! My oldest child is 22 now and has given us a BEAUTIFUL little princess all of 16 moths old now. I tell her and her husband do yourselfs the favor and buy in NOW while its cheaper realatively speaking. She still gives me heck about when is her next trip with us:rotfl2: Family+DVC= amazing memories!
Our contract is paid off now as of last month and to be honest we have considered another one, I surely couldn't even think of giving up our DVC....Shawnpirate:

My kids are 17, 20 and 23.....and they still love going to WDW. They've been "on" to the characters for a long time. But our family vacations in WDW always give us a special feeling of togetherness.....bonding....family time.......

Hopefully one day, down the road.....we'll be taking grandkids. We love our DVC.

But I think for the OP, renting points is a great option for you. May you continue to have great vacations wherever you go.

My youngest one's comment on the first time he saw a character was "it's just someone in a suit." He was in preschool. But you should see his face even now he's a big 3rd grader and he's upfront during a parade and a character interact acts with him.

Favorite character encounter, Minnie Mouse getting flirty with his older brother at Cape May. They both laugh at the pictures and the eldest one is a 8th grader.

We went skiing over President's Day weekend and both he and his brother wished they were at WDW(even though they were there in January).

But they always seem to want to go to the last place they have been, so my money is they'll want to be on the slopes when were at VB this spring.:headache::lmao:

If you were still planning on visiting WDW on a regular basis, then I am not sure why you decided to sell. Children will always be changing. We didn't even buy in until our children were 9 and 11. So they always knew about the characters. Funny, as they got older they enjoyed the characters more. They have always enjoyed trips to WDW. Some years they liked it more than others. We always mixed in trips to other destinations. But we normally hit WDW once a year. So DVC has worked great for us. Now we are taking our grandkids to WDW and one of our daughters is using our points for her honeymoon this year. It is so wonderful to see the generations go full circle. Our youngest was 9 when we bought in and now our oldest grandchild just turned 9. We've also rented out some of our points a couple times to take trips to Europe. So that is always an options. I hope the best for you. Maybe you will be back again in the future.

I called and wrote and offered to pay the commission in full and also something to the buyer for the inconvenience. I read the contract and it said that there was a 10 day period to retract but still pay a fee.

TSS told me that was for the buyer not the seller. They were rather quick to say too bad, it is sold deal with it.

My DH said that we can buy a 75-80 contact after March 21 and hopefully the price will be lower. That will give us a few nights at Disney and lower MF.

I still wish I didn't do it.:sad2:

I was just shocked when I went to look at the price of hotels at Disney!!! It is crazy expensive and I didn't know they raised the price so high in the past 5 years.

That was nice of you... good luck. Everything happens for a reason. The right contract will be out there waiting for you! :thumbsup2
