I had gotten some very mixed reviews here, but wanted to try it myself (actually DH really wanted to try it).

The best thing about this meal? The end...leaving.

We walked in early and surprisingly we were seated right away. Our waiter an older gentleman was MIA most of the time during our meal and when he was around we felt rushed. The prices were high, but not too much sticker shock because we are used to that at WDW. There were quite a few really nice looking waiters.. would have almost made the bad food worth it if it weren't for thier attitudes. I saw several being rude to guests on more than one occasion and one in particular was strutting around like he just knew he was Gods gift to the world. Really took away from his outter attractiveness.

Our food... well let's just say the sauce on the lasagne tasted surprisingly like chef boyardee. I make better italian at home and for a lot less $$.

We left hungry and went elsewhere for dessert. Live and learn.

This was our only bad meal of our stay... everything else was very good.

Sorry to hear that nothing has changed at Alfredo's. Our last expereince there was very similar.......except we waited and waited and waited for any service at all once we were at our table. The service was so bad that we still laugh about it....about ten years later. :rotfl2:

Well, at least you tried it for yourself. As much as I enjoy all the reviews, I do think you never know for sure without personal experience.

You just made me feel better. We have been to Alfredo's twice and had not so good experiences. Once we had a waiter with a major attitude problem. It was obvious someone or something had upset him before we were ever seated since we were in a very good mood. He was the vanishing waiter also, the poor people next to us waited 35 minutes after asking for their bill. We wanted a second glass of wine but waiter didn't come back until time to bring the bill and he literally threw mints onto the table as he walked by. Second time, nice older gentleman waited on us but we were in the main dining room and couldn't hear one another across the table without screaming, the people around us were practically in our laps, the courses were rushed, the food was so-so. I swore to never go back but boy when I walked by there last week I thought about it. I love Italian food - and I was in the mood for it. Guess it's best I stuck to my guns.

Did you order alcohol?

I'm just asking because me and dh are not big drinkers and when we were there last year they kept trying to push wine on us. We both said we would just have soft drinks ( I had ginger ale and dh iced tea).

Anyway, it seemed like as soon as they knew we weren't buying alchol we were rushed through our meal.

We only had sodas as well. I am really glad we didn't spend any more money in there than we did.

WOW! That sounds terrible, but it's completly opposite than what I have ever experienced.

We've been there twice in the last 2 years and eventhough this year I was going to skip it and try other countries, my kids begged me to go again. So we squeezed it in.

My daughter loves the Fetticini and ladybug dessert and I like the Gnocchi's and the dessert sampler. My sons pretty much happy with anything.

During our last trip, we had a young, good-looking waiter and he was really nice and taught my kids a few sayings in Italian. I think my daughter, who was 7 at the time, developed her first crush. He was very efficient and never pushed anything on us. He even brought out an extra plate, because me and son were sharing.

We always dine during lunch and it has never been loud or crowded.

I hope our experience in Sept. isn't bad, but as long as my daughter gets her fetticini, I don't think we'll have any problems.

Alfredo's must be the most controversial restaurant in all of WDW. It has been our favorite since Epcot opened. By reading the threads here on the Dis, I think it's safe to say, it's not for everyone. :earsboy:

I wish I could figure the "link" but in march I came back and said it was chef boyarde' too!!!! I know it was. I got the plate with 3 dishes fettucinne', potaotoe dumplings, & penne pasta. The red pasta sauce was definately chef boyarde' I've eaten enough of those cans to pick it out. ;)

We also had a world class marathon eating in 5 minutes or less experince = pop drinkers here too. Rude, and arrogant waiter. I think you got our waiter & table. SORRY!

We are eternally writing this "joint" (not good enough to be called resturant) off our list.

If you're looking for decent Italian food, not necessarily fancy or gourmet, but still very tasty, try the "Romano's Macaroni Grill" just north of the Crossroads Shopping Center(where Goodings' is & right next to Downtown Disney).
We've always gotten good service & good food there at a fair price. (The meal portions are huge, btw, often enough to share if you'd like to save room for one of their nice desserts...)

agnes!

Mmmmm...Alfredo's...just thinking about their Fettucini makes my mouth water. Can't wait until July. :cool1:

Another excellent Italian place...if you should venture to Universal...is Mamma Dellas at Portofino Bay Hotel.

I totally agree! It seems people either love it or hate it...there's nothing in between.

We ate there two years ago. We didn't have a PS, we just walked up and were seated in under 15 min. We were there for lunch. The kids and I had the fettucine and we all loved it! I can't remember what DH had, but he liked his meal as well. The kids raved about it and still do today. The bread/olive oil were yummy too! Our waiter was very nice and even kinda "played" with the kids a bit.

Maybe we just got lucky or were there on a good day, but we will definitely be going back there on our next trip.

Well, I must be one of the only people who are "in-between!" DH and his parents love Alfredo's, but I think it's so-so. Our waiter was very nice and capable, the service was good, the food was good, but not as good as in our favorite Italian restaurants in our hometown and in NYC. But that's my opinion (as an Italian girl who grew up on and learned to cook "real" Italian food) - as I said DH and his parents rave about this place and want to go back. I'll probably do what I did another time and have dinner at Restaurant Marrakesh (my favorite  ) while they eat at Alfredo's.

It's funny you should say this because after several trips to Alfredo's we've concluded that the only way to get good service is to order alcohol. Our meals there which were alcohol free resulted in rude and vacant service. But when we ordered alcohol we were treated remarkably well.

:confused3

We've been real disappointed with Alfredo's on our past 2 trips and will not be doing it again. My Italian sampler was cold, greasy, and the sauce was horrible. DS and DD's spaghetti was mostly pasta with enough sauce to be colored red. My DH lasagna was lukewarm and tasteless. You simply couldn't taste any cheese flavor at all.
And the side room we were ushered into had no ambiance. In fact, I didn't realize the place had this overflow room. Yuck. :sad2: I agree with the posters who said once you didn't order cocktails you were given the cold shoulder by the wait staff. We had a perfect example right next to us. that table was all adults..ordered cocktails and appetizers....then more cocktails...then their entree. The waiter was at their table every 5 minutes while he came to ours twice. Talk about customer service :confused3 We are a normal family who has no spending issues with WDW, but we were made to feel second class. Never Again. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Hmmm...like a previous poster said, Alfredo's is certainly controversial :)

I've eaten there probably around 6 or 7 times and have always had a really good meal. I'd go back to Alredo's in a heartbeat.

My only complaint about the place is that they jam way too many tables into the main dining room, making you feel like everyone is right on top of each other.

Im am not surprised. We were warned a few years ago about Alfredos and tried anyway last time, ugh. It was just plain gross. :crazy2: Would never eat there again.

Count me as an in-betweener. We ate at Alfredo's last week and thought it was pretty good. Of course, at the time I was suffering from a severe sinus infection and couldn't taste much but DH and I shared the sampler and DH really liked everything on it. I did think our server was MIA most of the meal but there was another waiter-type person who was very attentive (he was the guy who filled our drinks and brought the dessert tray by). I would eat there again but it is not something I consider a "must-do".
