Since we will be going in Feb. there will be a ton of snow up hear in Wi. How difficult is it to pull a pop up in it and about how far south do you have to drive before there is no more? How long has anyone tented in Feb. I was hoping 8 days 2 at each park. I am worryed that it will be to cold to beable to stay this long with 8,9,11yr DD DD & DS I don't want to be in a cramped hotel since there are 5 of us. My only concern would be the weather . I am afraid it will rain and then freeze we would bring a couple space heaters and electric blanket , Long Johns but would that be enough I mean I don't want to freeze to death at DW . We really think it will be great since the parks close earlier that we can take the kids to the petting zoo and the campfire /movie and generally get some down time. Are the pools open this time of year too are they heated. Never been to Fl so don't have a clue what it's like this time of year. What are the +And- of camping this time of year Thanks to all that reply to this worry wart Mom

Hi! I'm from Minnesota and we used to travel to FW every February and camp for two weeks.

The snow gradually starts going away as you're travelling south through Illinois. By the time you get to Kentucky, it's gone. There's a chance you could encounter an ice storm--but it's a low chance. It only happened to us once, and we had to pull over and spend an extra night in a roadside motel to wait it out.

The weather in WDW is nice in February, although it can get chilly at night. We always had a tent heater to keep it cozy in there! :cloud9: You shouldn't need long johns or anything like that -- but if you have the space, go ahead and throw them in there, so you won't worry. :)

The pool is heated to 82 degrees, so it's pretty warm in the water. But if it's a chilly day, you'll want to warm up fast after getting out!

February is a great time to get away from the Wisconsin winter!!

Not sure anyone will be able to completely put you at ease and still be honest with you. The pools are heated. That I can assure you. I have been in February before and it is cool at night and not really hot during the day, in general. Of course there will always be exceptions. Several years ago we went around President's Day (we live in PA) and I left a day early because of an ice storm that extended from PA into Georgia. It took us one whole day to drive through SC never going over 15 miles an hour. The best bet is to keep one eye on the Accuweather web site and plan accordingly. Towing in ice/snow is not a fun ride, but is possible if you go slow and I do mean slow, don't get upset by people passing you since you will probably pass them later and can wave at them in the ditch. Prepare for all types of weather - cold, heat, etc. Anything can happen. So bring a variety of clothes, warm sleeping bags or blankets, be sure your propane tanks are full (heaters suck a lot of propane).

We used to travel in February before the school schedule changed. WDW at this time of year is great, it actually is our favorite time to go. Typically the weather was in the upper 70's and sometimes into the 80's. You should expect a couple of days that are cool in the 60's. All in all a nice mix for someone from WI.
Watch the weather before you leave and plan accordingly. The interstates are typically cleared first. We only ran into trouble once on the road coming back in Ohio there were some serious snow squalls and we just slowed down and drove accordingly. After all these years up here in MI I dont sweat a little winter driving plus I have 4WD. You may want to build an extra day into your itinerary and be a little flexible about your departure to work around any weather.
We go down I75 the whole way and usually dont see any snow south of Knoxville. It did snow lightly once coming through Atlanta on the way home so we just stopped for the night a little early and it cleared out by the AM.
The weather is good for camping this time of year, its definetly not the rainy season but you should expect some.

I would be glad to offer any other help with questions.

Scott

BTW... 3 years ago in December we were at WDW and it was rainy and in the mid 50's and we went swimming. If you can stand the run back to the room its lots of fun. The funny part was that we woke up that AM and had planned to go swimming and we were not to be denied...... :thumbsup2

we have gone down over x-mas/new years a few times. like they said, keep an eye on the weather and plan around it. watch out for ice storms down in the mountains of tennessee, etc.

take your time and you will be fine... if you encounter some weather you don't like. get off the road for a while. it will get better again..
