They have them on the ship right? but how does that work? Do you reserve while on board? ahead of time? Would they have an itty bitty cutey one for my 16 month old? And, has anyone priced renting them at home for a week vs. getting one via DCL?

Thanks :D

Amy

I believe you rent them from cruise line formal .com.
You need to contact them prior to the cruise with all the info (size...) and it will be in your stateroom when you arrive. I think that your cabin steward will take it after the last dressy evening to get it ready to be returned.
I also read that you should try it on asap after you get on board since they do have a limited # of replacement pieces in case something does not fit right... First come first serve...

I don't know if they carry tuxes for kids or not. But that would be very cute!

I dont think the cruise rentals had tux for toddler sizes. I checked at home a few years ago and it was cheaper to buy a tux for my son in the JCPenney catalog than it was to rent at a tux shop.

I believe it is much cheaper to rent on the boat rather than from home for a week.

However, you can usually purchase a tuxedo for a little more than the cost of renting one. That is what I did, because we knew that we would take several cruises, and I didn't want to rent continually. So, I bought a used tux from a local rental shop. It was a great quality wool tux, barely worn.

You might check that, if you think you will be cruising more than once.

Since it is for a 16 month old - check ebay or a local second hand shop ... you may find one cheap but seldom worn.

I Rented it at the local tux shop and they had no problem...
Even got an extra shirt .... was still the same rental price as a one day rental...

then i decided to purchase one since i thought it would be best for me since i planned on doing a few cruises...

paid about 150.00 for it ..... at the local discount mens store

Here is info on children's tuxes from the cruiselineformal.com FAQ page...

Q. Do you rent tuxedos for children?
A. Tuxedos for children are available on a pre-order basis when embarking from most North American ports. Please call our customer service department to request information about your specific cruise. Tuxedos for children are not available on board for rentals or exchanges.

So...kids tuxes are available...you just need to make the arrangements ahead of time and make sure you have the correct sizes.

It pays to look at the FAQ page :o

Thanks for the info! :)

Believe it or not, my MIL bought the cutest tux for my 16mo old at the flee market! LOL! Maybe you could try there. I think she paid around $55.00

HTH:wave2:

I used ebay for my son's tuxes (bought 2 in the last two year). I think I paid about $40 each (maybe less?) including the shirt. I then handed them down to our friend who has a son 3 years younger so she can use them.

Dh has rented from cruiselineformal and it's worked out really well for us. He doesn't pack anything but underwear and socks and it's so much easier on me (lol) and leaves me more space!

We did the measurements ourselves based on their form on the website and both times it fit great
