Sweet Jiminy Crickets! Had to share!
I am a FRESH DVC member, as we JUST closed via Disney last Thurs and, waisting no time, I just booked Aulani for 8 nights Oct. 21-29th 2011! I couldn't quite believe we were even in the system, much less spend all our points so fast (they make that part pretty easy though!)
We booked a 1 bdrm villa for all 8 nights but have a Pool View the first 2 nights (waitlisted Ocean View) and Ocean View the last 6. It will be my DS11, DD8, Dmom and Ddad who turns 65 the day we arrive! DH, for some strange reason, has no desire to visit Hawaii (he is from a different tropical country so it holds no allure for him. Too bad, so sad! Being from Canada, I am SOLD on any place that has a beach and sun!) Since only 5 can fit in a 1 bdrm it all works out in the end.
Coincidentally, while on the phone with MS, on hold and listening to the "Wishes" soundtrack, the doorbell rang and there were my closing documents from DVC via Fed Ex!
Thanks to everyone here for all the information you share about DVC each and every day. I have done nothing but read DVC threads for 2 weeks straight and I learn more and more each time. Am doing the hula as I type this and probably won't stop until I hit Honolulu in Oct!

Keep us posted on when your WL comes through. We might have to WL for Aulani if we don't call right at the 7-month mark, and an OV 1BR is what we're looking for.

If they had built Aulani (or something very similar) at WDW or more especially gulf coast FL, We'd buy there.

Thank you for all the welcomes! I will definitely post pictures and report back after our trip. I have already been perusing resales for more points and am pretty sure it will not be long before that becomes the next obsession!

In case anyone else was wondering, when I asked MS today if Aulani would have some form of Magical Express, the CM said regretfully no, that guests would have to rely on other transport. While we probably will rent a car at some point during the trip anyways, I thought that this was too bad. There is something about arriving to WDW on ME for our family that we eat up every time!

I also saw an update about the Aulani spa on the Disney Blog today and it looks out of this world! With all that money we're saving by going DVC, I figure I'll only come OUT of the spa at mealtimes!!!
