I have a question ... are you suffering Poly withdrawl like we are?! :sad1:
We have only been home for two days and we are all so sad and already planning our next trip. We miss our view and all of the sounds on the lagoon, the boat horns, the MK train, the drums from the luau ...
(and to make it worse it appears that we are all coming down with the flu  - it was running rampant in our town while we were gone)
The Poly has this effect on people, LOL. I feel sad when I have to leave there. Last trip, I asked a CM there if they had a CD that has the background music that they play at the resort..they didn't. :sad1: Wish they'd make one-bet they'd sell like hotcakes.

I keep saying that I wan't to try all the resorts(well, most of them) but every time I book, I end up at the Poly.:lmao:

You can listen to some of the background music on Tikiman's website.
http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/
At the bottom of the page is a jukebox with the music.

That's what I listen to when I need my Poly fix.

We left the Poly on Sun. Nov. 1..... and I cannot imagine waiting a whole year to go back. If things get better $$$, maybe we could take a short trip back! But I definitely want to go back next year, probably during one of the first 2 weeks of December since we did Halloween this year.

I just went to check in for our arrival on 7 Nov and they have us at the Polynesian - we just upgraded from POR, but we could only get a garden view but when I look at room details it said Pirate - Water View. Does anyone know what that means? I thought it might be a left over from the POR, although it clearly said we are at the Poly. PLease help.

Pirate - Water View is one of the categories of the Caribbean Beach Resort.
Did you book through Disney Travel? If so I would call them just to be sure.

Here is a cool place to download WDW sounds and music that might help. OR it could make you more homesick!

http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/sounds.html

I also have clips of music from the Poly, but for the life of me, cannot remember where I downloaded them from! They are too large to attach in an e-mail or I woild send them to you.

Thanks so much, I called as soon as you answered me. They said we are definately booked for Poly, just a glitch that it said Pirate - water view as indeed that is at CBR. I was just hoping we would had a water view at the Poly but they are called lagoon views. Now that we know we are def. at the Poly does anyone have a suggestion for what room/bldg/floor we should request seeing that we want the best possible. Any suggestions out there? Rememer we only have a Garden View.

I don't know if you saw my post above about the Polynesian background music, but I have a link there to Tikiman's (Unofficial Polynesian site) and there is a list of all the longhouses with an explanation of views and pictures too.

Personally, since I have mobility issues, I like Rarotonga because it is close to the Great Ceremonial House, and that is what I requested for up Nov/Dec visit. I've never stayed in Tokelau, but I understand that is a great longhouse for garden view rooms because from the balconies of some, you can see the fireworks from the MK. For our Feb. trip, we did book Club Level because it might be our last trip to WDW for a while.

Oh, I already have the Poly music on my ipod (can't remember where I got it), but I've been afraid to listen to it - I'm afraid it will make things worse! :sad1: My DH feels the same. He doesn't even like me mentioning it. :rotfl: We are definitely going back. I am lobbying hard for next year, but he wants to try it at another time of year (since we did Halloween this year). He's thinking spring 2011 :scared1: I'm going to keep working on early December 2010. I can't wait a year and a half to go back!

When we were there last week we were in Tulavu (MK view). We had to walk past Fiji to come and go from our longhouse. The rooms on the marina side of Fiji are still classified as garden view. They overlook the little marina and the back side of the volcano. Depending on the position, you could see part of the beach too and maybe the Contemporary? (but not the castle). If you want a balcony you would have to request third floor, the second floor rooms don't have balconies. The first floor rooms have little raised patios that are bordered by shrubs (and not extended grassy areas like many first floor rooms in other buildings). Fiji is very close to the GCH and volcano pool, but would be a bit of a hike to the TTC.

I can't seem to find the link you are talking about or the search button. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Any other information on why the slide is down or of it was a planned closure? The Tiki pages said it would be closed until teh 20th.

We chose the Poly in large part because of the Volcano slide (for the kids of course:)). How am I supposed to tell them that it's closed? We'll be there from Nov 15 - 22nd.

I'm guessing it was not a planned closure. We were there last week and it was just closed one day (I think it started Friday). I don't remember seeing any advanced notices that it was going to be out of service. There was just the sign at the bottom of the slide that said that it would reopen the next morning at 10:00.

Thanks for bringing it up.
Anyone have any further info?
Thanks.

Just to reiterate, the pool is not closed, only the slide. When we were there everything else, the jets, the waterfall etc. was still working, just not the slide. You can still use the pool like normal.

Hi all! :goodvibes

I am back. Getting ready to go to work so full report will be tonight!

Great Trip....Love the Poly even more

The pool is OPEN! Only the slde is broken!!!! but for us, we hardly missed it because the activities by the pool kept the kids having fun! It was a sudden closure and they are having a hard time fixing it because of the fact that there are people in the pool from dawn to midnight :) It was great pool weather!

There is boat specifically being used for taking people to the GF pool for their slide. No hassel, just get on the boat they take you right to the pool and when you are done they bring you back :thumbsup2 We did not use it at all though. DD had a blast at the Poly pool sans slide.

I took TONS of pics of the Poly for the thread! I got a lot of information and other stuff!

We did book bounceback and it was a great one :thumbsup2 I have to look at the numbers later to compare but I will give a full report tonight I promise!

Sorry I missed everyone! There were a lot of people there. I am sure we crossed paths or even chatted:hug:

Stay tuned until tonight...:cool1:

Off to work :sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:
