Hi,
Do the Poly busses to HS and AK share with the GF and CR in the morning? We have requested to be near the TTC, so I was wondering if I should use the TTC busses to those parks because it might be more direct, but I wasn't sure when the TTC busses start running. Also, is the monorail at the Poly stop crowded in the morning? Would it be any better to board the monorail, or take the ferry at the TTC instead? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing? We are thinking of staying at Tahiti and from what I understand the TTC is closer than they Poly bus stop to Tahiti(please correct me if I am wrong!)

We are going to WDW in late May...I have booked the Poly but I have not told my family that we are staying at the Poly.:rolleyes1 I'm trying my hardest to wait until we roll up to the resort to surprise them but the stress of keeping the secret is unbearable. I have to tell someone so I could not think of a better place to unburden my conscience than a bunch of Poly fans!!! This is our first time to stay at a deluxe (let alone a monorail resort) and I am beyond excited  but I'm also weak :sad2:...please, help me to stay strong!!!

You CAN do it!! Just imagine the looks on the faces of your family members when they discover the truth!! It will be priceless... much more so than if you told them now. Just stay strong!!

I think it's about the same really as the buses are on the far side of the TTC. In fact if your room is on the West side of Tahiti, the Polynesian bus stop should be quite a bit closer. Neither is a long walk.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm about to check out the Tikiman site (I have a feeling that's what I'll be doing the rest of this evening:) )

If we do decide to request a specific longhouse, it'll probably be based on convenience rather than views. DFi could care less what's out the window, and I'd like to see something pretty, but it wouldn't ruin our stay. Last trip we spent more than one evening hanging out on the beach admiring the castle.. how cool will it be to actually have a ROOM there?

On an unrelated note, can I just say how much I love the tiki torches? They are a huge part of why I want to stay at the Poly so badly.. is that odd?

Tikiman's site is amazing.:surfweb:

We love the Tiki torches, too...just magical.

Turner Drugs delivers to the resorts and does it pretty quickly too! A couple of years ago, I contacted my family doctor and a script was phoned in for me from my home pharmacy. The pharmacy also delivered Gatorade and other nonprescription items the doctor requested. It was delivered later that morning. It is a great service for those in need. :thumbsup2

WE've had very good luck with Turner Drugs as well, Tess.

Hello! I am heading to WDW in late February, staying at the Poly for the first time with our twin sons and one of their friends...a Mum and the boys trip!

I have 2 questions I hope you can help with:

1. We're having dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe one night (my hubby nixed this one on our last trip, just wasn't "in" to it!). Can we take a boat directly there, or what is possible? What boats are used - if it's the smaller ones, we won't be able to use our son's wheelchair, so important to find out. He can use his walker, which folds up better.

2. The boys are very keen to know whether the Poly rooms have iPod docks - very keen to be able to charge those babies up for the flight home...I told them I did not want to see them in use while we have so much to do at WDW!

Thanks!

The boat at the Polynesian is the smaller launch. You can not roll a wheelchair on as you know. My DH has been known to dismantle our daughter's small travel powerchair so she gets to ride the launch. You can also take the monorail or walk to the TTC and take the large ferry to the MK. I think the boats to WL from the MK are still the larger ones that can accommodate a wheelchair but it's been a while since we've taken it. There is also a bus to WL from the MK.

There are iHomes in the rooms.

Hey friends...:wave2:

I am glad so many people are heading to the Poly! We need some fresh reviews!

If you have not visited Tikimans site, he now has a list of the rooms that are considered TPV CL. It is very interesting as it is a lot more rooms that I thought. It appears to be all the 3rd floor rooms except one. There are 11 on the 2nd floor and only 7 on the first floor!

He also mentioned a Aloha Mickey and Minnie character greet in the lobby some evenings?? Has anyone seen this or have pictures? It sounds wonderful! I hope it is something they continue to do.

I hope everyone's New Year is starting out good! :flower3:

Thanx for that. I have two LH requests on my booking, Fiji being No. 1 and Aotearoa No. 2. It was originally just Aotearoa, but after seeing other Diser's pics from Fiji I just loved the look and location. Although I have just realised I forgot to mention Marina side (does that count as LV or GV?). I just requested third floor with balcony.

Stefy, all of Figi is GV which is amazing:wizard:. I have stayed third floor on both sides and both views have been wonderful.

My youngest ds wanted me to find out some info on the Poly slide since he saw pics and that it was so cool! We are booked at CR right now and he thought the Poly slide looked "cooler", but scarier! LOL

He is only 5, and said he was worried that since it is an "enclosed" slide that he would have to lie down. I guess since he hasn't really done pool slides yet, he is a bit leery of it. So tell me, how is the Poly slide for a 5yr. old?

My daughter loved it at 5. LOVED it. My son was a young 4 the last time we went-- he was leery of it and didn't go. I think the younger set can sit up on it.

Cool! Does anyone else have experience with a 5 or 6 yr. old child being able to sit up while going down the Poly slide??

I know it's not true at the Poly, I think that's only the case in Vacation Club villas.

There are heated jets that shoot into a little cove on the south-most side of the pool (right near where the "stream" that runs along the path dumps in).

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...351,-81.584945&spn=0.000557,0.000849&t=h&z=20

I think what you are talking about is a small shelf or seating area on the GCH side of the pool. It has several jets and is heated to the same temp as the rest of the pool which I would say was 98-99 degrees because it felt like body temperature whenever we swam in it.
Thanks for the detailed info. You guys rock. :thumbsup2

It's so hard being sneaky, huh? I just kept a "Mom and Dad only" trip secret from DW for two months. Hardest. Thing. Ever. Hang in there with your big surprise. Your family will love it.

Hi guys, Happy New Year! It's been a long while since I've been on this thread and wanted to share my great news!

I had booked my February vacation at the CR, MK view, because for our vacation, theme park view or lagoon view was not available. After staying in Hawaii garden view last year and looking at the view on the other side while mousekeeping had the doors open, I knew I couldn't stay at the Poly again unless I could see the castle across the lagoon! I've been on the WDW website daily, checking to see if there were any new rooms released, and up until today, there weren't any...but this morning when I logged on, every category was available so I am surprising DD with a TPV! She always talks about the Poly, and how much she wants to go back. I saw someone else post about keeping your trip a secret and you must be strong! It's going to be hard to keep this from her, but I can't wait to see her face when our bus goes past the CR and GF and we don't get off, then she finds out we're staying at the Poly! I can just picture how excited she's going to be!

I requested 3rd floor Tuvalu, but I'll be happy with anything really in Tuvalu or Tahiti...just praying that I don't end up in Aotearoa! :scared1:

Anything new going at the Poly that I've missed? I heard the news about CL having the TPV category now...looks like they've included a lot of rooms in that category! I hope you all have been well and I look forward to catching up!

Your connecting rooms will have two queen beds and a day bed in each room. There are no king beds at the Polynesian in the non-suite longhouses. Hope that helps with your 'tween planning. :)

Thanks Tess!

While I'm thinking about it, I think I remember last year that you could request turndown service even if you weren't staying concierge. Is this still the case? My DD loves the chocolates on the bed and it was something she enjoyed coming back to every evening :goodvibes

We loved our stay in Aotearoa!!! We were in Rapa Nui w/ a stop sign view-they gave us another room & we had a view of the castle!!!! I did notice though after taking a walk last trip that the trees had grown quite a bit since we stayed there-maybe alot more obstructed views??

Wow that is amazing and in a great location as well :goodvibes

Part of me deciding on Fiji as a first choice was because of the pics I have seen from your stay and some other Disers too (it just looks so cool and pretty).

Also, thanx for mentioning about the Aloha Minnie & Mickey Greet, am off to see if I can find more info. Will post my findings :)

Zippa D Doodah, I see you're leaving soon...have a great trip!

Thanks! We fly out Friday morning, and I am now officially in the "so excited I had to get up early and check out the DIS" stage.

Congrats on getting the Poly for your upcoming trip as well.

This sounds cool. If Mickey and Minnie are hanging around at the Poly when I get there tomorrow (don't you just love being able to say that?) that would be a treat.

As part of the surprise for DW I gave her a new camera for Christmas. I'll be sure to borrow it long enough to snap some pics around the Poly. If anyone would like pics of anything specific, post here today and I'll try to get it -well, as best as a Poly noob can.

Yea! It is time for you to go!! :cool1:

We want a full review and pics!

Have a wonderful trip and I hope you get lots and lots of Pixie Dust pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Zippa D Doodah, have a magical vacation at the Polynesian. :wizard:

I saw this on the Transportation forum and thought it would be of interest to fellow Polynesian lovers:

Note that the ferry at the TTC will not be accessible for wheelchairs and scooters during the construction.
