I've read some of this thread... well the first 5 pages and the last 2... and it sounds like people that love the Poly are a lot of fun and love to kid around.

I guess that's why I can't figure out which longhouse to request if any. We've never stayed at the Poly, only eaten there. DH and I decided to book a trip just for the two of us this Sept. and he chose the Poly because it looks romantic to him. So what's important to us is a great view. We booked a GV room. Should we try to upgrade to a LV? If we stick with the GV which longhouses have the best views?

Thanks for all the great information.

all garden view rooms are nice and if you want to see the seven seas lagoon or the fireworks you can just go to the beach to watch them thats what we did alot of people like tokelau garden view rooms and fiji garden view rooms because one side looks over the marina no matter what room you book you cant go wrong

Hi again Poly experts (I can't wait until I experience the Poly for myself so that I can answer some questions too, LOL)!

I was wondering the best way to get from the Poly to DHS and AK for RD. We will be staying in the Hawaii building if that makes a difference. Is it better to catch the bus at the Poly or walk to the TTC and catch a bus there? We are not opposed to taking a cab either.

Thanks so much!!

Bumping because last time we had a car and this time we won't so we'd like to know the answer too.:)

"Mommy, why is that snake eating a marshmallow?" :lmao:

Oh my gosh you guys with the stick/snake thing! :lmao: My DH had the exact same question - do we have to go find sticks? And of course I had to laugh and make jokes about sticks that "move and wiggle".

GV is a GREAT VIEW and I've never upgraded. I like Tokelau because all the GV rooms are nice (no parking lot views here), it is a central location, and the rooms are a tad bit bigger (not by much though). Everyone has their own favorites though. Check out tikiman's website on the Poly for extensive information on the longhouses and rooms. It really helps!

I find all the buses to/from the Poly to be just fine except for the Downtown Disney bus. For some reason, that bus takes forever and stops at a lot of places. That's the ONLY complaint I have (and actually it's the same route at all hotels that bothers me - the downtown disney bus). If my kids are tired after Downtown Disney this next time, I will take a cab. But for AK and HS, the buses were great!

MsStinkerBelle - THank you for the photos!!!!! They have minute maid LIGHT and I needed to know that so I don't have to purchase it before we arrive. A refillable mug is going to be a huge savings for me since they have this.

Hi guys!

I am sure this has been asked a zillion times, but I just can't happen to find the answer right now. What is the best way to request a specific longhouse? We are coming up on 2 weeks from our arrival date and I know I want to request Tokelau, but I've never stayed at the Poly before and I'm not sure how to do so!

I am SO EXCITED thanks to all of the fabulous into in this thread! :woohoo:

Just got back last night from a one week stay at Poly. We were in Tahiti, GV. It was our 1st stay at the poly.....Will we ever stay at the Polynesian again?? Probably not :( Sorry, I just wasn't impressed. I did like the size of the room and bathroom. Double sink and my family of five was comfortable. Maybe my expectations were too high.....we did have a wonderful time though. No regrets! :)

I will attempt to compile my very first trip report with pics soon (hopefully!) Now, back to laundry .....:laundy:

ASAP -Best to call the main reservation number and ask a request for Tokelau to be added to your reservation. Do not call the resort number becasue this goes to a central call center which answers with the name of the resort, but does not connect with the resort directly.

Also ask again at check-in. Good luck and have a great trip!!

I'm excited!!! :yay: Got our IPO "Please give this to the valet captain upon your arrival" letter today!!!! Only 9 more days to go!!!!! :woohoo: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

So, here's a question you may or may not be able to answer. We're going to be driving, and probably won't be arriving until the wee hours of the morning. We'll be ready to drop when we get in. Assuming we did online check in a few days before the trip, do you think we could call ahead and ask for turn down service? It's not a big deal if we can't, but it would be nice to see upon arrival.

Does anyone know if the hairdryer in the rooms at the Poly are full size or are they the smaller travel size dryers?

I just wanna figure out if I need to take my full size blow dryer or not, since I have to blow dryer my hair every time I get it wet or it's a huge mess. If the dryers in the rooms are the smaller ones I'll bring my own so I don't have to spend to much time on it.

I did notice in the pictures on the first page the blow dryers are not connected to the wall (from what I could tell), which is nice and hopefully means they are full size!

The dryers are full size not those tiny travel dryers. They are on the small side but seemed powerful enough but I don't need to use one all the time. If having a realy good dryer will drive you crazy trying to get ready I would bring yours from home. They are seperate from the wall which is great for getting ready...not so great when your DH packs it by accident and you have to return to the Poly at 5am when you hit the road and realize what you did :) lol. Have a great trip.

Aloha all! Haven't been around for awhile but it looks as though the Poly lovers' numbers are as strong as ever. Just booked our vacation for late August at the Poly. Can't wait to hear "Welcome home Cousins"!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the heads up! Definitely let us know if you hear anything more (like dates!). It would be great to get a hot tub at the Poly but I actually like the deep end at the pool. In fact, we sometimes prefer the quiet pool so I (like others) hope the refurb won't be while I'm there. Maybe they can save this for the cold months :upsidedow

I can't give exact dates. We happened to be speaking to a recreation CM on our arrival date (6/19) during the evening.

After a long discussion with him about our love of Disney, many visits, favoring the Polynesian and enjoying the quiet pool, he just blurted out that we were lucky to be there that week. He went on to note that the quiet pool was going to be closed in "two to three weeks" for rehab and would not be the same when it was finished. The rec CM was also sad with the planned rehab because he, too, loved the pool deep end and all. He could not give me specific dates because as with all rehabs, dates are uncertain.

As I indicated in my short post (it is very difficult to post from a Blackberry while going through rope drop at AK) the pool is to be leveled out and the deep end filled in to create more shallow area. The addition of a hot tub is the current wish, but not for certain. That is really all the information I could wheedle from him.

I guess we have to take the information for what it is because we all know that bad information abounds with CMs. I will say that rec CM in particular seemed to know a great deal about the resort operations. On the other hand, I wouldn't cancel or change a trip based upon information I heard from a CM. Those rehab dates are just too flexible to count on.

BTW, I'm back and have tons of photos, etc. I bought a digital the day I left for vacation and now have to figure out the uploading process, etc. I'll get back with all of you soon! Our vacation was totally awesome and weather absolutely fantastic! I did meet a DISer family around the pool. TTFN!
