Still trying to decide on first or third floor requests for TPV. Anyone have pictures of the first floor view or know where I could find some (TR, web site, etc.)?

Thanks for this info! Correct me if I am wrong....but with a cooler available with drinks 24/7, I would have no need for refillable mugs? Correct? We have mugs literally falling out of our kitchen cabinets as it is!

The drinks aren't really available 24/7. The little frig is stocked when they close up for the night. When we were there it was pretty much cleaned out by the time we got back to go to our room. We just drink water so it didn't bother me, but if it's important for you to have soda 24/7 I wouldn't count on it being there after they close up the kitchen. ;)

Hi! This is our first time staying at the Poly and we are so excited. We requested Rarotonga building, first floor on the advice of friends. Could someine tell us about this location? Can you see the monorail from most of the rooms? My daughter would LOVE to see the monorail from our room.
Thanks,
PammyPoppins

We stayed there on the kids' first trip, and it was a great location! We wanted to be close to the GCH, and we practically walked out of our room and into the lobby. Our patio faced the rest of the resort, so no view of the monorail or lot. We were also very close to the quiet pool where the kids spend a lot of time.

We've stayed in 1816 which was first floor Rarotonga and it has a view of the monorail. It seemed like all the first floor rooms on that side should have a monorail view. The other side would be a view of the quiet pool.

I LOVED this location. It took 2 minutes to get to the GCH and Volcano pool and was steps away from the bus stop and the quiet pool. It's also only about 5-7 minutes to the TTC.

In addition, I liked the privacy of the patios facing the monorail as there is no foot traffic so all you see is your neighbors if they are out. It felt very secluded.

Then I had a great idea! I called my TA and dropped the dinning plan. The DDP is ALOT of money for 5! Now we can pay by 30 days and just add it back no later than 7 days out. Problem solved.:banana::banana:Just wished my brain had though of it sooner!!!

Finally had some good 70 degree days in Pittburgh. Just makes me hungry for the great May weather at the Poly

Glad you figured out a way to make it work! :goodvibes

I know what you mean about wanting some Poly weather - we've had some days in the 60's here in Michigan and it makes me want the Florida weather and the Poly atmosphere even more. :)

When I broke my foot, a few years back, we stayed 1st floor TPV, Tahiti.

Steve aka tikiman probably has first floor views from Hawaii on his site. I know he likes first floor there as do we.

Dawgdad's photo from Tahiti really does look like a view in Hawaii...the real Hawaii. Well, other than the castle shimmering in the background.:goodvibes

Thanks for sharing.:surfweb:

I made it through! I got lost in the transition from the previous threat and just found the new one today! All caught up! Thanks Breezysmom for keeping the thread alive!
I've never stayed at the Poly but will be in 2011. It's my dream resort and I can't wait to experience it! Our dates are still TBD, but the planning has commenced!

Thanks for all the great info!

We had a GV room on the 3rd floor. First floor has patios, third floor have balconies, second floors are fake balconies except maybe the long house with only 2 floors (Nuie?).

Rapa Nui, Tokelau and Tahiti have balconies on Floors 2 and 3. Niue has 2 floors but no balconies on Floor 2.

Hi Mickey2minnie! I have stayed both GV(CL) and TPV in Tuvalu and I would have to say that I would rather spend 3 nights in a TPV, than 4 nights in a GV room (even if it was CL). If you spend some time in your room enjoying your view, watching Wishes and the EWP, and just enjoying all your room and view has to offer, I would definitely give up an extra night in a GV for my view in Tuvalu again! :thumbsup2 There is nothing like hearing all the sounds of MK from your room... Good luck in your decision! Either way, you'll be at the Poly and will have a great time no matter what!

Glad I'm not the only one! Having said that, I will stay GV at Poly again and again!

WELL, it looks like we are heading back Oct 5-11th. It will be my mom, the 2 boys and myself (DH can't get the time off work, and he can only do Disney every couple years, it's not his thing :confused3). That's ok, though, my mom is my partner in crime, I mean booking Disney vacations. :cool1:

SO, while we LOVE the WL and BC, we are considering staying at the Poly (my personal goal is to hit all the Disney hotels at some point in time, hate to repeat this early on :rotfl:).

How is the pool area compared to WL and BC? I know nothing really can compare to Storm Along Bay, but frankly, we found it very difficult to keep track of the kids, it was so HUGE. They are good swimmers, but I need to have my eye on them at all times... I found the pool at WL better served that purpose.

Also, my mom is batting around the idea of booking a club level room. I am REALLY hoping for a good discount or a pin otherwise club level is out of the question, but we have never stayed CL and we want this to be a more relaxed, spend a lot of time at the resort-type trip. We will hit the parks 3 days and do MNSSHP one night (not a day we are going into the parks) and the rest of the time we want to be pool side, so we would really like the CL I think.

I appreciate any input, insight, insider tips, tales of wonderful upgrades (while we've never magically gotten one, I LOVE to hear about it when people do :goodvibes).

TIA~

Someone said if you stay at CR, you can turn on the tv and hear music for the fireworks. We have TPV for Poly. Do they have that available also?

We stayed there this past Oct. and thought I would be bummed about being on the 1st floor with a TPV. I loved it having that big expanse of grass looking out at the MK with no walking path very few people ever venture that way. I have a video link I can post its about 15 min long and it very relaxing I use it to destress alot LOL.

Just want to add this was shot with webcam when I was streaming live and not a camcorder so the Castle looks far away when its not. Webcams focal lenghts are designed for closeups. I'm working on getting a used camcorder to stream with next time so the picture is better.
