ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

The weather is turning to autumn here, and I can't wait to start pulling out the cool weather clothes. That means we're getting closer and closer to December!! :santa:

Speaking of CL, the IPO made our 3 ADRs that we requested. I have a few other plans up my sleeve but I will work on those later. This trip will technically be Breezy's 10th Birthday Celebration since it is a few weeks after her actual birthday.:cake: She has no idea we are even going back. We are going to tell her on her actual birthday. She thinks we are not going back until Oct of 2011 :rolleyes1 I am confident that the Poly IPO will help make her celebration fabulous :wizard:

Sounds fantastic - what a nice suprise for Breezy! You guys could use some happy right now. I'm sure the Poly IPO will help you make that happen. :wizard:

Yesterday I pulled the summer clothes from the girls' drawers and put in their winter woolies. Of course I started a nice little trip packing pile, who cares if it's two months in advance ... it seemed wasteful to put clothes away only to get them out again in a month or so. :)

Welcome back, guitarob and MrsB!

We were in Hawaii room 1525, so we were just down the hall from you. Weird!

Anyway, we found our room to be great. No major problems at all. But, my MIL and her mom were in the room right next to us and they found dirty glasses and grapes all over the floor when they finally got their room. Their closest lights didn't work and then, on Sunday morning, their bathroom sink clogged.

MIL called for maintenance and we left for the park. We didn't come back until after IllumiNations and when they walked into their room, there was still plumbing materials all over their bathroom. They called maintenance again and they came out and fixed the sink, but they were there well after midnight.

It wasn't that we didn't enjoy ourselves because we did, we just thought it was odd that our room was great and the one right next to us had issues.

We had a great time as a whole, though, and we loved CL!

We are back too :sad1: We were in room 1522 - funny, we were all in the same hall at the same time. We had no issues/problems/concerns with our room at all, just like other stays both at the Poly and elsewhere on property. DH is now addicted to CL and has declared that will be the way to go for us from here on out - darn, I'll just have to suffer! :rotfl2:

My DH is also very addicted to CL. I guess I'll suffer with you. Dang it!!!

I will never forget when my husband told me to upgrade from CBR to the Poly in 2007 for our first trip. He said "we will stay Deluxe for our first trip and then stay at a moderate for our next trip" :lmao: Sucker!!!! :rotfl: The minute we walked into the Poly lobby I knew he would never want to stay anywhere else. Then on our second trip, we got a CL upgrade :wizard:...well say no more.:rolleyes1

The suffering is awful isn't it?? :rotfl2:

Welcome back. I am glad you all had great trips! :dance3:

Forgive me for asking if this has been answered multiple times over, but usually how many stops on DME from the airport to The Poly?
Last year, we stayed at CSR and I felt like it took forever to get there because we stopped at AKL first.....ugh.

Also, I am thinking of getting my own luggage and bringing it on DME with me since I have a 2 year old and don't want to wait up to three hours for my luggage to get to the room. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will they help me load it on the bus?

Thanks for your insight!

LOL!! We went in 2007 - our first family trip. Decided to "splurge" and stay at the Poly, thinking it would probably one of only maybe 2 total family trips - one when the kids were little ("magical") and maybe again when they were older. Well, of course we fell in love and are headed back for our 3rd time in 5 years next spring!! Probably will be our last big family trip for awhile - getting harder to pull DS out of school.

6 months from today, we'll be at the Poly!!! ADR's made this AM - got everything we wanted!!

Only 22 more sleeps :thumbsup2

My girls know we are going but around the 60 day mark they said they didn't want to count down like we did for our first trip DD said "I couldn't sleep for weeks I was so excited" so at the 45 day mark I stopped telling them the days. They just realized today that October is in 3 days. They know it is in October and that we leave on a Wed. They are now convinced it is 1 week later than we actually are leaving. I am fine with that ;) I have already packed and if they see me packing more the weekend before they leave it won't look odd so I am all up for a mini suprise.

I can't wait

Last week DME stopped at GF first, then dropped us at the Poly, then continued on to CR (this was about 7pm on a Sunday night)

On the way back to the airport, it was reversed - people already on the bus when we were picked up from the Poly and then we stopped at GF

It really varies. We have used ME on our three trips. The first time was WL first then the Poly. The second was Poly first and the last was CR and then the Poly. All in all, it has never taken us more than 70 minutes from getting off the plane to checking in at the Poly.

As far as the luggage. We have always let ME deliver it. We usually hit the parks or go get something to eat so I am never sure how long it has actually taken to arrive in the room. We do pack a carry on with a days a change of clothing for each of us and bathing suits, PJs and neccessary toiletries. It really is fabulous not to have to worry about your luggage.

Congrats on your ADR's! I just passed our 5 month mark. I just put all of our warm weather clothing away and of course I was thinking the whole time that I was going to be able to pull all this stuff out early to get ready for Disney at the end of February :cool1:

The other answer to your question is, yes the driver will help load and unload the luggage from the ME bus. Just bear in mind it is customary to tip the driver in that case...

Thanks everyone for the quick responses to my questions. You are all so helpful and kind.
I am going to have to think about the luggage thing a bit longer before I decide whether or not to take it on ME myself or use the yellow tags. I just get nervous not having the luggage with my toddler...:rolleyes1

Take a carry-on with the items you'll want as soon as you arrive. :)
