Aloha Aussie dissers
We have been here 5 days and I have just got around to coming back to the boards....the resort is ..in one word..SPECTACULAR....:lovestruc
We love aulani, the cast members, the pools, the drinks by the pool....
Ventured out for the first time yesterday from the resort..outlet shopping..very disappointing...nothing compared to the Orlando outlets.....:scared1:
So shopped at target instead, got the grandkids some disney stuff..cheap...little princess dresses for $23 etc.
Qantas exit row was awesome, worth the extra $$$$$.
Back to the resort.....sitting here now after the gym 7.24 am watching Mickey do his character meets.....sun is reflecting off the water and the music is wafting thru the air...the DH is still in bed, even the coffee tastes good:laughing:
Free wi fi.....great speed.
24 hr gym
Food selection a bit sparse, but you can always leave the resort for one of the many take sways 5 min down the road...did Denny's and chill is, taco bell so far.
Character breakfast last Sunday was awesome, worth the money, food was great and interaction spot on.
Will do a trip report with pics when I get home, but if you can, check out Aulani......
Aloha...

Aloha Karen. Sounds like you are having a heavenly time. That is the second time I have heard the food offerings are a bit sparse. I'm sure Disney will be onto that in the next little while.

I have no idea why you are wasting time in the gym but I guess I should pat you on the back for it :rotfl2:.

Have a wonderful time and relax relax relax!!!

Sounds like heaven, just the thing to read before leaving for work, lol!

Have a great day, I can't wait to read more:surfweb:

Sounds absolutely blissful!!! Might have to think about Hawaii for a holiday in the future!
Looking forward to hearing more when you get back. :surfweb:

:cool1: sounds like your having a great time is definitely on our list to do with all the great things everyone keeps saying.
Enjoy the rest of your trip :yay::yay:

Oooh totally jelous, right now I'm sitting on a hard bench waiting for my DD1 to finish tennis, Would love to be there!

Shuttergirl - My thoughts exactly about the gym! Well done Karen.

Off to google it now and see what I'm really missing.

Thanks for posting! We are leaving in 6 weeks, I CANNOT wait and would love any other tips you can share!

Did you eat at AMA AMA? Have you had the dinner brunch at Makahiki? I would love details!!!

sounds like you're having the time of your life.

cannot wait to read the TR when you get back.

very, very jealous -- although... gym? on holiday?

:scared1:

*sigh* It sounds really awesome!

For some reason beach holidays make me really energetic, usually one run along the beach fixes that though

Ok
So sitting here waiting for washing to dry while dh is in getting spa treatment...yep I know, should be the other way around.
Hint re washing, there are only 3 machines for the entire tower, and it's $3a load for either washer or dryer...cash needed.
So if you don't have laundry in your room, allow for at least 3 hrs to do your laundry:eek:
Doing whale watching tomorrow, booked the excursion at disney here, they do fill up fast, also day spa passes...sell out early on the day.
Buffet is great, had one character breakfast and 2 dinners...fresh seafood, sushi etc....not deep fried.....
Expect to pay $100 for dinner for 2, $90 for breakfast for 2....not a cheap option, but great if you don't want to go out.
Haven't tried room service or AMA AMA....now that's expensive.
Got a tad burnt yesterday so will be avoiding the pool today til much later.
Have a great day
Aloha

Ahhh it sounds wonderful!!

Bummer about the washing though:sad1:

Continue to have a Fantasic time:yay:

Aloha
we are home:eek:
had a fantastic flight again on qantas..I never thought I,d say that again....the exit row is the way to go. Totally worth the extra $$$$ especially on a long haul flight.
QF Food was bad, really bad for us dairy free people..oh well.

so was sad to leave the resort, such an awesome stay.
will do full trip report in the next few days......oh well, back to reality.

Welcome Home Karen!

Looking forward to the TR.

Oh, I could have told you about the special meals on QF. They are all the same, doesn't matter what dietary requirement you have. I have a nut allergy, so I have tried them all. After complaining that they are all the same (minus the butter on the non dairy diet and the low sodium diet, with a rice cake instead of a bread roll on the gluten free etc), I was told they are actually all the same, with minor modifications. There is no nut allergy meal, but the special meals are all nut free, so I have tried the Gluten free, low sodium, diary free, low fat. You name it, I tried it, because every one was absolutely revolting!
Flying first, business or economy is the same food for the special meals.

Actually, the final straw for me was a few years ago, when I did an SYD-LAX return (business) and got this vile apricot chicken, couldn't see any apricots, it was just a dull grosse grey colour on some rice with what may have been chicken. We then flew to Hawaii (business again), 3 months later and I changed from the low sodium to the gluten free as I couldn't eat the food and was hoping for a different meal. Well what did I get on the Syd-HNL flight??????? OH it was the APRICOT CHICKEN! I said to the steward. Smell this, seriously, this is inedible! I would not feed this to my dog :rotfl:. And I was serious, it was absolutely revolting. I laughed and said that I had ordered a different type of special meal as i just had that same grosse chicken on the last trip, it was he that said they are all the same, just slight modifications to the sides and all areas of the plane. Well for yet another flight, I sat watching my son eat this divine tasty meal and I had worse than dog food.

From then on, flying Qantas, I do not order a special meal, I just take my chances with the normal meal. My TA had to inform them that I no longer had the allergy as I must be in their system and she was automatically sent the special meal forms with she would book for me.

Other airlines are not like that, the vile special meals seem to be a bonus of flying with Qantas! :rotfl2:

Welcome back Karen. Bummer about the yuk food but yay for the wonderful trip. Look forward to hearing more.
