Aloha from Aulani

Glad you had a good trip home - thanks for your thoughts - I'm looking forward to seeing your pics!:thumbsup2

Bill B - I will be traveling the same week as you. 9/2-9/2. I opted for the 1 bedroom pool view as the points total were definitely less than those in August. Also, I could not find 7 consecutive days without switching rooms at least 3 times for my August ressie so I cancelled and booked for early September.

I have 2 children so I would never book less than a 1 bedroom. The more I read about Aulani the happier I am that I changed my reservation. I am hoping for easy pool access and lots of meals cooked to order in the room. We will probably eat breakfast and some lunches in the room. Dinners will be eaten off site. I know that we will try Ama Ama at least once.

I am thinking about booking the character breakfast for my 3 year old's sake. I love the flexibility of being able to cook meals and wash daily if desired. This can often be a great money and space saver! We also get tired of eating out towards the end of the week when we vacation. Cheers! I hope to see you at Aulani! :flower3:

Thank you for sharing your trip with us. I really enjoyed your report as well as your photo's.

We are just eight weeks away from our Aulani trip and you've helped get me even more excited. :yay: :woohoo:

Great pictures, especially the ones at night! Aulani looks so nice at night. Thanks for sharing!

Many people have written about Roy's-do you need a reservation there?

I'd recommend it, despite the fact the we usually go into our local one either as soon as they open or later in the evening, order our souffle, and have our souffle in half an hour whether its to go or to dine there.

During prime time hours and on the weekend you might have to wait a while for a table if you don't. (From 6:30-8ish?) Other than that its probably okay not to, but why not?

Ciao_Gina, thanks so much for your trip report, your pictures and your thoughts/suggestions on Aulani! :goodvibes It is always so helpful to read what everyone has done and how things went. We are going in June and my kids can't wait. They are 15 and 18, we are renting a car and have activities planned for nearly everyday with some down time at the hotel. Thanks for mentioning the bathroom set up. I have looked on line to get an idea the lay out, glad to hear that it is set up as two bathrooms even though it really is only one. We really like the two bathroom configuration at BLT and VGC and wished Aulani was the same.

I have read from others to pack light as well. I typically overpack but I was planning on packing light as we are not used to fees for baggage. This really just seems to the way to go not only to save on baggage but others say it works out best.

I hadn't read about Mitch's before, will definately have to look into that.

Your pictures were great! What an awesome idea to edit them on the plane. I wouldn't have thought about that, but definately going to try and do that. I would imagine it would make our long 9 hour flight seem more bearable.

Thanks again for posting!! :thumbsup2

I never heard of Roy's so I went on online-wow to my surprise there are quite a few. The menu looks great. Do you know the address of the one near Aulani so I can make reservations? Thanks so much-and yumeeee souffle!!!

I am pretty sure it is the only Ko'Olina Roy's. They don't take on-line reservations so yes, call directly. I loved the appetizer plate. And see if you can get a window seat when the sun is setting-tell them this so they seat you on the right side of the restaurant.
