ALmost ready to cancel DIsney

I know everyone is blaming Disney, but having followed this saga...

There's a lesson in here. Everytime you call and say can we do XYZ and then say Wait, maybe we don't want to that etc. you run the risk of having this type of situation.

Reading the OPs first post I can see exactly why this happend. She was almost thru the cancel part when DH showed up and they decided to wait. There are probably several parts to this conversation that aren't documented here including the side conversation with DH any of which could easily have confused a CM. As I read the post it appears to me she was cancelling, we were up to getting the address to send the money too when DH showed up.....

The OP is also calling both Disney and AirTran? That's a lot of fingers messing around in your ticket.....

(Pulling on flame proof suit....)

I am not sure she shouldn't have to pay......

Ok, first of all.....I asked the cm i spoke with "were the tickets canceled"....SHe said NO, I asked if i can wait until the morning to let her know she said "yes". SHe never once asked me if I wanted her to go ahead and cancel our air!! I should not have to pay NOTHING!!

By the way......There were not several parts to this conversation!! Nothing confused the CM....I was not canceling right then......What doesnt the cm understand.....She posted it on her computer........Guest unsure.....will call back!!!!!

Nothing confused the CM.

How could you possibly know this? Obviously someone was confused.

A good lesson to always book airfare yourself directly with the airlines. The more layers between you and your tickets, the worse it will be if there are any problems.

Amen to that! and I really think it's easy to confuse a CM(I've had a couple run into a couple at MS for DVC over what I think is a very simple request).

I know this because I said nothing to confuse her. In the future I will now know not to book airfare from no one but the airline.

I wonder if any of you ever stopped to think that she maybe just made a mistake??

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help on this one. I am glad I stuck to my guns on this, and not listened to ALL of you. Disney just called me back....and guess what......I dont have to pay!!    She said there was miscommunication between the CM and Airhelp! She questioned both of them...SO now I see who was confused!!!!! Now I see that Disney makes mistakes too!!! SO, anyway.........This SAGA is OVER!!!:dance3:

When you talk to Airtran tell them Disney cancelled your flights in error and that you need your original flights reinstated. Disney probably can't do this because the class of service you originally booked in sounds like it is no longer available, which is why you are now paying an additional $26.00. Airtrain, on the other hand, may be able to force the fare. Continue to ask for the supervisor on duty because chances are the front line agent won't be able to help you anyway. Good luck...I hope it all works out for you :goodvibes

Thanks, it did all work out for us. Disney took care of everything. Their mistake. Thank you.:thumbsup2

In my experience everytime you make a call to ask a question or potentially make changes you run the risk of changes being made. That reservation is pulled up and active in front of someone and accidents do happen as you experienced. Your best bet is to make decisions then the phone call, and don't try to do too much at once. This is so true of any special requests for the resorts or dining. Each time you make a change something else tends to change or get deleted so you ultimately end up without all of your requests.

Well, I'll stick up for Carol, she's an incredibly experienced and knowledgable frequent traveller. I followed your saga too. Once you contacted Airtran and used their flight-change policy to rebook yourselves on a flight that you approved, it seems to me you lost the chance to make additional penalty-free changes. It sounds Disney has more than been accomodating when you had second thoughts about the extra night (which is what this boils down to). Now you're happy that things are exactly as they were yesterday morning, but it took a lot of aggravation to get there. :confused3 It would have been easier all the way around if you and your dh had made a final decision about what you wanted to do before calling Disney, and had the contingencies (penalty vs. no penalty, keep the trip vs. cancel the trip) mapped out ahead of time. JMHO

Ok, yes we should have thought about it more before we called. I do understand that. What I am saying is that the cm should have asked me (before she did cancle the air). Not only that...I did ask her if the air was canceled already and she said NO. SHe did say it was ok to call the next day with my decsion...Plain and simple.....

Glad it worked out for you. Everyone makes mistakes, but this was sure a nerve-wracking one!! This gave everyone a heads-up and served as a healthy reminder to the more experienced Dis'ers.

Don't feel too badly now that everything is sorted out! We had our mortgage suspended/cancelled because of a bank employee that went ahead without our approval. We came home from vacation to find out that our last 2 mortgage payments had not been taken out! It's sucks when people don't listen! I'm glad you got it sorted out!

Pixie dust for you:wizard: I'm so glad it worked out.:woohoo: A 20 hour drive does not sound like fun.
