Almost lost one piece of luggage at BUF - TIP

Late last night at BUF luggage carrousel had stopped (SWA flight from MCO)and one of our three pieces was missing. Spoke to SWA rep to see if perhaps carrousel would turn back on and more would come out (although was previous travels understand that when carrousel stops, thats it). SWA rep confirmed what I already knew.

Several minutes (10 minutes maybe) later carrousel starts up again (now dumping out a different flight/airlines luggage US AIR). I told rest of my party to watch the carrousel (just in case) while I go with SWA rep into her office to fill out missing luggage paperwork.

Turns out that one of the very last pieces of luggage for the US AIR flight was my missing piece of luggage. The luggage travelled on our SWA flight but somehow was in the same carrousel off-load as the US air luggage.

My concern : what if I had been travelling alone? I would have filled out the paperwork and walked away and not found my "missing" piece of luggage.

Lesson to self: If a piece of luggage doesn't show up watch the same carrousel for next flights luggage (just in case).

That kind of happened to us in Vegas. Once our carrousel was empty, we realized my gf's luggage wasn't on it & she had no luggage as we only went for 4 days & packed a small suitcase. We went & spoke to airport reps & no one could really help us. My GF walked around all the carosels looking for someone from the airline to talk to & voila, her luggage was on another carrousel from a completely different flight & airline. She just got lucky & found it by accident. We have no idea how it ended up there but it did.

I always take a picture of my luggage before I leave. That makes it easier to describe it to the airline staff. Sadly, my tales of lost luggage don't have a happy ending but I'm glad yours does.

Always keep your luggage tags up to date. I got a call from work after one of our missing bags was found by our airline, but the home number on our luggage was obsolete. It was lucky that I also put my work phone number on the bag.

I thought that SW had lost my bag on my last trip. The sw employee was picking up left over bags on the carousel to bring back to th office. I was to follow him to the office to fill out the report. My luggage was already sitting in the office. I guess my luggage got an earlier flight. I had dropped my luggage at the resort check in in the morning for a late afternoon flight.

That is a good idea of taking a picture of your suit case
