Almost had HH for July

Dh called for our July trip today. The guy "had" the reservation and then lost the first day. Dh decided to reserve BCV for July and try for HH in October. He wanted dh to reserve the whole week at HH on cash and try to switch it later which I had never heard of before. Then dh realized he took points from the incorrect account and had to call back.
Makes you appreciate the really efficient CM's. I am sure we will enjoy the beach club.

Yes, I know about this, as we've done it. You reserve on Member's Cash (which is about $203 for a 2 BR in October, based on 2008 rates), then try to switch to points as availability arises. You may end up with some nights on points and some nights on cash. And if you go to HHI after 10/25 (at least that was this year's date) the rate for a 2 BR MC drops to about $142 per night. Caution-there's a very slim chance that all the changing around may result in "lost" nights. That's what happened to us this year, which we learned when we showed up at the resort. MC nights don't show up on the website, and I naively assumed those nights still existed for us.

Thanks for explaining more. We will probably just shoot for a weekend in October although I am thinking about calling back and trying the waitlist. I am hoping to reserve the Saturday in cash if we do this. Did you not have a place to stay those "lost nights"?

Well we didn't when we checked in-and the resort was full. It was questionable, but they finally found someplace. We had to move several times, but we threatened to sleep in the car, or to drag the mattress to the nearest picnic table if they didn't!

We are so bummed, we wanted to go to Hilton Head this year, however, we were denied! We LOVE Disney, however, we thought it would be a nice change going to Hilton Head??? Is there ever a chance of getting in if its not your home resort? We had to opt for our Home Resort, Saratoga, which we are excited, don't get me wrong we were a little torn, because this is our first time using our DVC, my DH had even said, we should stay at our home resort. I just wanted to know if it is always difficult to stay at the Hilton Head resort?

We were able to get in the second week in June at the 7 month window. Keep trying! You will love HH!

However I am sure you will love BCV too. We stayed for the first time this past July for 6 nights and MY KIDS LOVED IT. We are booked for a week in July again. Can't wait.

We arrive BCV for 7 nights starting on July 21st and then we move to AKV Savanna View for 2 nights after that. We head home on July 30th. We absolutely loved loved loved BCV. I wanted to stay all 9 nights there this summer but we are going to try out our new home.

Our DD will turn 7 in May! We'll be hanging out at the pool quite a bit (since we're going in April, we may only do one park day), so as it gets closer, PM me and maybe we can meet up so the kids can play together! DD would LOVE that, as our son is 13 and pesters her!!!

We are going to try out your home in April! I'm really excited to stay at AKV. I think the kids will really like it, and I really like the darker decor. If it's anything like VWL, I will LOVE it!

I'm glad to hear you really liked BCV. I'm a little less excited about staying there for some reason. I do think that SAB will be great, though. The more I hear, the more excited I get. After all, I have never met a DVC resort that I haven't fallen in love with! Every time I leave, I contemplate buying points there! Unfortunately, I can't always do that. After this summer, we will have stayed at every DVC resort, with the exception of HHI and BLT. We plan to try BLT in the next year or two if we can book it.

Sounds great. My son is an only child and loves the water. I can't wait. Did you have to call at 9am to get the reservations? What size room were you able to get at the 7 month mark?

I called around 10:30 or so. I booked a 1-BR with no problem.

I was an only child, too! It was always great finding other kids to play with until I was old enough to take someone with me! My parents were really good about doing that when I was in middle and high school.

Seriously, PM me, and we can definitely hook up! Like I said, my daughter would love to have someone her age to play with while we're there!

We have owned just under 2 years and we have stayed everywhere at WDW but VWL and of course BLT. I love them all but we absolutely fell in love with BCV. It was just perfect for all of us. We actually thought about doing an add on there but decided that we would go with AKV for the incentive package and the longer years and hoped we would always get in BCV in the summmers. :O) I am looking forward to AKV too especially Kidani. I am sure you will love BCV. Our kids are 18, 15 and 10 and were 17, 14 and 9 when we stayed last summer and they loved SAB.
