Day 3: Epcot/MGM
Wednesday was EE for Epcot, so DH went ahead so he could take in a few attractions that none of us cared about (i.e. Mission Space) The next paragraph is my DHs account of the first two hours of Epcot that morning.
DH: About 15 minutes before rope drop they allow you to go through security and the turnstiles and allow you to enter as far as the Spaceship Earth Geosphere. If you are planning to rent a locker keep in mind that you cannot do so until after rope drop. On this particular day I made the mistake of going to the camera shop (across from Spaceship Earth) first to rent my locker. I had been at the front of the crowd when the rope dropped. They were not prepared for me and about five others, so I had to wait about five minutes. I lost all my momentum by going to the camera shop first. I did manage to get a FastPass for 8:57-9:57 for Mission Space and stood in line for Test Track. They have to do several test runs in the morning, so you shouldnt expect to get right on the ride first thing even if you are first in line. The total wait time with test runs was 45 min. The ride also had to be stopped a couple of times for mechanical problems. Finally got on about 8:55 a.m. Once I finished Test Track (which was worth the wait) I made my way next door to Mission Space. I boarded immediately with my FastPass. They repeatedly warned you to not ride if you suffered from motion sickness or a phobia of enclosed spaces. I suffer from neither and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Spent awhile checking out the activities and games within the Mission Space Pavilion. Very educational! Highly recommend for parents who have children with an interest in space or science.
ILMOUSE: My parents, DD, and I arrived at Epcot around 10 am and were able to ride Spaceship Earth with a very short wait after meeting up with DH. After that ride, DD once again fell asleep so DH took her with him to explore Innoventions. My parents and I went to get Fastpasses for The Land. My parents are farmers so they enjoy this ride. They wanted to do The Seed Tour but it was not available during our trip.
DD woke up in time for us to go to Imagination before our 12:00 PM PS at Garden Grill. We agreed that we did not like this ride as well as the old version. We made our way to Garden Grill for lunch with Mickey, Chip & Dale, and Pluto. DD loved seeing the characters, especially Pluto. We enjoyed the food but may not do this one on the next trip as we had better character interaction at other places.
After lunch, my parents and I rode The Land while DH walked around with DD who was getting fussy. He tried to get Fastpasses for Test Track but all that was left was 8 PM so we passed.
We then proceeded to the boat launch for MGM where we had to wait about 20 minutes for a boat. We enjoyed the ride as DD was sleeping and it allowed us to see some of the attractions we had not seen before such as Boardwalk.
We arrived at MGM with about 2 hours until our PS at Hollywood & Vines as we were doing the Fantasmic Dinner Package that night. The parade was going on when we arrived so that sort of messed us up on what attractions we could get to. DH went to ride ToT and RnRC while the rest of us decided to go to the Great Movie Ride. The line was longer than I thought it would be during the parade but still not too bad.
After we got off the ride, we went to meet DH at H&V for dinner. We all liked the food and would eat here again. Our server told us to be at the gate by 6:25 PM so after dinner, we wondered around for a few minutes and made our way to the gate. DH went to retrieve belongings from our locker and could not find the key. He checked to see if the key had been turned in and it had not. Security opened the locker and discovered that someone had replaced our stuff with theirs and our stuff was missing. We think that my DH accidentally left the key in the lock when placing our stuff in there. Fortunately there was not much in the locker at the time, so no real loss, but my DH was mad at himself for making as he says a boneheaded mistake.
Fantastmic was wonderful. DD feel asleep about 5 minutes after it started and did not wake up until we were on the bus back to the hotel. We all enjoyed the show and the special effects. This is one show you should try to see if at all possible.
