This will be our first onsite and first family trip, we are staying in Allstar Music (switched from Pop to get free dining  ) and I didn't make a request for a certain building, I was wondering what the differences in the building are, this one closer to pool etc... also is one of the pools bigger, better etc... than the other and what is the difference between standard room and preferred room at ASMu? Should I request a certain building before we get there or at checkin, we will be arriving at 7 a.m. We are going in October and we are hoping it won't be as crowded as we have heard summer has been :teeth:

I think I'm more excited than the kids are :hyper: ...can't wait to see there face the first time they see WDW :flower1:

Definately the Calypso building, as it's nearest to the Food Court, Bus Station, main pool, etc.

We were lucky enough to stay there during our 1999 trip, and it was perfect in terms of location. We stayed in the Jazz area during our 2003 trip, which was pretty good too (it's second nearest after the Calypso).

Hope this helps!! Have a great trip.

Since Calypso is a 'preferred' bldg, you would have to pay more for it...about $10 a night. But, we stayed in Jazz which is right next to Calypso and it was wonderful!!! Very close to the main bldgs and the pool. We were on the third floor on the backside of the bldg, away from the pool area. It was incredibly quiet there...no passing by noise to speak of. I loved it there.

Whatever you do, do NOT accept Country Fair. We had that building and it was a VERY long walk to the buses/food court, etc. ;)

We stayed in the Calypso building on the third floor and had no trouble with noise and loved the location. The Calypso's pool is bigger and usually more crowded than the piano pool which didn't seem to ever have more than a few people swimming in it (probably due to the layout of the resort). If you don't want to pay more for a preferred room I agree with the others, go to the Jazz building :)
