This will be our first onsite and first family trip, we are staying in Allstar Music (switched from Pop to get free dining  ) and I didn't make a request for a certain building, I was wondering what the differences in the building are, this one closer to pool etc... also is one of the pools bigger, better etc... than the other and what is the difference between standard room and preferred room at ASMu? Should I request a certain building before we get there or at checkin, we will be arriving at 7 a.m. We are going in October and we are hoping it won't be as crowded as we have heard summer has been :teeth:

I think I'm more excited than the kids are :hyper: ...can't wait to see there face the first time they see WDW :flower1:

I stayed in Broadway and it was nice and quiet, not too far from the food court and stuff either. plus the themeing is really cute. ::MinnieMo

First of all, why'd you have to switch from Pop to get the free dining? :confused3

Anyway, we've stayed at ASMu twice. The first time was in the Broadway section. It was really pretty and quiet, but a bit of a walk to the buses, food court, etc. The next time we were in the Calypso section which was great. Some people think it's too noisy, but we didn't have a problem. It's the first building you come to as you exit Melody Hall. Our door literally opened to the pool and it was less than one minute to the food court. Have fun!

When we booked Pop Century in June I didn't know anything about the free dining and I booked our trip for the 7th of Oct.(fall break at school) Then they brought the free dining back so I moved our trip to Oct 4 to take advantage of the free dining  but there wasn't any "free dining packages" left at Pop so we had to move to ASMusic to get free dining.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings which are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool has Donald Duck. The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
The buses are wonderful. It takes about 25 min.to get to MK but, Epcot,MGM,and AK are only 10 min.away which is one the of the resons I
love  the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. :cloud9: I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy :flower: I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney. :earsboy: :earsgirl:
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit. I can hardly wait. :hourglass

just 65 more days

We stayed at ASMu a couple of years ago and we were in the Jazz Bldgs. They are the next bldgs after the preferred. I thought that they were pretty close to the main bldg and we were close to the piano pool, which was more quiet that the main pool. We are going in Sept and are staying at POP with the free dining. This will be our first time staying at POP. If POP was not available I would have stayed at ASMU again. :flower:

We've stayed at ASMu twice in the last year. We were in Calypso [bldg 10] both times and loved it. The first time we were on the 2nd floor directly over the pool, the second time we were also on the second floor but on the backside away from the pool. It was quieter on the back side but the front was not overly loud in our opinion.

I've only stayed at ASMu once and we stayed at the Calypso. It was a very ideal location for the reasons JoyJoy mentioned.:)
