As some of you might know, I use to give away a free gift basket each month to someone visiting WDW. It was just a fun thing for me to do. So often, when I've done this, I've had CMs make such nice comments about my baskets. They have been very helpful to me over the past four years.
Today, I went to deliver one of the free baskets. I actually gave away the basket many months ago. The guy who won it was scheduled to arrive at WDW today. It was for a proposal, so I'd put together a basket with sparkling cider, Mickey etched wine glasses, Ghirardelli and Lindor chocolates. It was one of the few baskets I still have left to deliver after closing my business.
Unfortunately, the CM at the resort could not find the guest. He looked under every variation of the name and did a global search of the resorts. He spent about 20 minutes trying to find the guest for me. No luck. His supervisor came over and she tried to locate the guest. She also could not find him. Eventually, she went to look through another system. She found him. He had cancelled his trip. Oh, well!
There I was with a gift basket filled with chocolates. What to do? The CM helping me had mentioned how much he loved Ghirardelli chocolates. So, I asked the supervisor if it would be okay to leave the basket for the front desk staff to open and enjoy. My only stipulation was that the CM who had helped me got some of the Ghirardelli chocolates. She asked her manager and he said okay! So, I got a couple of high fives from CMs as I walked away without the gift basket and a big smile on my face. It was really nice getting to do something nice for the resort CMs.
