Allow plenty of time at MCO

Do you think part of the problem at MCO is that there is a higher percentage of tourists and families vs experienced business travelers? Only place where you see a family of 2 adults and 2 or 3 kids with each person towing rollaboards. Then they have to get them all up on the tables to go through the scanners.

Here we go agaIn.. Some posters do think this is the problem, I don't! MCO has ALWAYS had this mix so why in the past few months have lines gone from fine to HORRID??? I am the QUEEEN of late arrivals and until Febuary and had never even come close to missing a plane. However even I arrive early at MCO. (It's kind of scary that I have to arrive earlier at MCO then at ATL the BUSIEST airport in the country in a MUCH BIGGER city??)

Personally lots of business travelers are WORSE then the lesiure traveler. First the men are carrying 200 pieces of metal in thier pockets which they don't bother to empty out until they get right up to the screener. THen of course we all get to deal with hauling out our laptop... plus look around. About half of my fellow business travelers have expanded two carryons to mean "whatever I can get away with" So it's a carryon with some bag hooked on and a briefcase. (MCO is very lax about stopping them from hauling excess stuff) Just last Sunday at MCO I saw a business traveler walk thru the screening gate before his luggage was on the moving belt. I guess he figured that some nice person would PUT his luggage on the belt and it would scan. Of course no one did and the IDIOT finally came back and dealt with his own junke! (And this was in the clear line where we are "suppose" to know what we are doing??? The man behind him had to go thru twice because he forgot to take off his cell phone SHEESH! Maybe MCO business travelers are just not with it?)

Leisure travelers actually seem less likely to be trying the carryon deal. Let's get real, how many of you with 2 kids can get EVERYTHING you need in four 22" carryons???? (Not many) Strollers do slow the line down, but....

I wonder if MCO is making a big profit on Clear Card customers........

They are using a lot of the Clear revenue to add additional screener hours for dedicated Clear lanes. However, those lanes are being offered for use to all travelers when Clear customers aren't using them, so it's a win-win situation for everyone.

I think in general you are right, but not in Orlando. People are still in Mickey haze.

just a quick reminder for those not using the clear card...we came home in Feb and went through long security line as well, only to get to the front and the woman checking IDs would not let my dh through becuase his boarding pass said JIM and not JAMES as his license did,.....long story short - after a few minutes of looking in his wallet he found of all things one of his real estate business cards with his name printed as JIM. We would have had to go all the way back to NW and get him a new boarding pass if he wouldn't have found this and then go through security all over again ....and from what i understand NW would have had problems issuing a new boarding pass too.....anyway, lesson learned...make sure everything is in your legal name or have proof otherwise.

Just to confirm this: My husbands name is Rock but we call him Rocky and we had to make sure it had Rock on all the tickets!!!
