Alligator Bayou

We were going to stay at Wilderness Lodge in Dec. 2012 but are now thinking of staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

On Disney's website they have pics of the pretty refurbished rooms in the mansions, but the alligator bayou pictures are the same (with those ugly bedspreads!). Will alligator bayou be refurbished by Dec. 2012?

I know we can request a room but that's not a guarantee..

It sounds like the AB rooms will all be refurbished by the end of June. Head over to http://www.portorleans.org/rehab.php that should tell/show you everything you want to know. It's a great site for POR/POFQ fans. We're planning our next trip to POR and hope to be in the AB section.

You can pad your odds. Two of the four mansions have the Princess rooms (Parterre Place and Oak Manor). If you book a Royal Princess Category room you'd be guaranteed a room in one of those two buildings.

On the other hand four of the AB buildings are preferred (14, 15, 18, and 27) so if you don't book a preferred room there is little likelihood you'd be placed in those buildings. A standard room could get you in any of the other Bayou buildings or either of the other two Mansions (Acadia House or Magnolia Terrace) though. If I for sure wanted in the mansions I'd go ahead and book one of the Royal princess rooms. I believe there are like 512 of them, all in the last two mansion buildings.

Personally we prefer the AB section, so would be willing to pay more for the preferred room category in order to ensure we got there. lol If you book standard or even water view, you could wind up in either section.

I don't want one of the princess rooms (we don't have kids). We would be booking a king-sized bed room.

Am excited about Port Orleans Riverside! Can't justify the extra $900 for WL...
