If we are staying at POR, do they automatically put us in the Alligator Bayou in order to have the trundle bed option? Or do I have to specifically request this by fax before we go ?

Thanks,

David

They automatically stick you in the swamp;)
In the past, I remember the confirmation slip having a notation saying, "Party of five, requires Alligator Bayou".

It is by no means a swamp, lol, it is absolutely beautiful in Alligator Bayou, you will truly love this resort! I strongly recommend before going (about 3-4 days in advance of arrival) that you call the front desk and request building 14 or 15. They are very close to the main bldg., food court and first bus stop. This place is huge, so this really helps with the amount of walking you'll have to do. Have a blast! And enjoy the main pool and its slide, it is so much fun!

I also love the bayou section! The buildings are more intimate. The landscaping is lovely. The quiet pools are smaller and great for a quick dip. The laundry rooms are so convenient next to the pool. There are bunnies and ducks everywhere and they are quite tame. My daughter loves feeding them bread. I agree that Buildings 14 and 15 are closest to the main building, however, buildings 16, 18, 26 and 27 are convenient as well. Have a great time!! :p

We too are a family of five, and the AB rooms w/ trundles are the only ones that accomodate 5. We stayed in building 15 and thought it was a great location. Our children really enjoyed the main pool. I think the food court has good choices for the children as well. We will be staying there again because we really enjoyed it and also because it is the only mod that accomodates 5.

Well now that I have a few experts..let me ask you another question if I could...

Is the layout of the rooms such that I should request a certain room, for example, is the corner room any different than a middle room, and are there rooms to avoid, for example, near the ice machines, etc.

Thanks for your advice !:p

The size of the rooms here are identical (314 sq. feet). However, if you ask for a corner room you can get 2 windows, which brings in alot more light. But more importantly, ask for bldg's 14 or 15, this is critical. You won't believe the amount of walking you would do otherwise to get to the food court and main pool. But be sure to do it ahead of time, not at checkin, the good rooms may all be taken by then.

I thought about staying there this past July. We have 5 in our family, but since our dd is only a year old we weren't guaranteed an AB room. I didn't want to chance it. If she slept in a crib on vacations I would have a lot more options;)
