Ok, I have heard that Disney is great for people with food allergies. But what if the person cannot eat anything on the menu? Can I just bring her food in? Is she charged a meal credit just for being there?

Ex: We are hoping for the Princess Storybook breakfast with a menu of this: Fresh Seasonal Fruit
Bacon
Sausage
Scrambled Eggs
Potato Casserole
Biscuits
Cinnamon Rolls

She would be able to only eat the fruit and I doubt any of the rest could be made safe for her. It seems a waste to use a TS credit for her.

At Akershus you can't have someone at the table without their being charged. You may want to check the DISAbilities board for information on how to contact Special Diets. If they have advance notice, they will make something she can eat or have something brought in. I think you'll either have to use a dining credit or pay the regular cash price for her though.

I would call disney and speak to them directly. Not sure what type of allergy your dd has but I have a friend who has 2 daughters with celiac(sp ?) disease
and they love going to WDW because the chef's prepare them special meals!

My Dad is allergic to all seasonings, and there wasn't much he could eat off of any menu. But every chef at every restaurant he went to at Disney was able to make him a special meal. The best was Boma - the chef made him such an amazing creation, it more than made up for not being able to eat anything from the buffet!

I guess it would depend on why your DD can't eat those foods on the menu, and whether the kitchen is able to make them differently for her, or make her something else. What does she normally eat for breakfast?

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a large section in that post dealing with special dietary needs, as well as many related links. You can get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs by following the link in my signature.

This is a very common topic of discussion in the disABILITIES Forum.

Email specialdiets@disneyworld.com. List the specific allergies and ask if accomodations can be made at the restaurant. The Disney chefs do a great job making special meals. Chances are very good they'll be able to come up with some alternatives for you.

You're going to get charged the 1 TS no matter how much or how little someone eats at a buffet. People eat various amounts at buffets for a lot of different reasons. It's a character buffet, so a significant part of the value is the character interaction/entertainment, not just the food. If you think of it that way, 1 TS credit might not seem like such a waste. My DS7 ate one chicken nugget and a forkful of mac & cheese at Chef Mickey. He was so excited and distracted by the characters, he couldn't eat. We happily paid the 1 TS credit, because the pictures and memories were worth so much more.

DD is allergic to yeast, eggs and all nuts (in addition to chicken - how odd). Anyway, egg is in practically everything! I have read where they can make egg-free waffles, etc. I think you just need to call ahead and arrange it. So maybe they can help your DD too.

It is a great place to eat with an allergy. Good luck and don't give up hope!

The chef made my niece a hashbrown at Akershus and also dairy free waffles.
