We were in Animal Kingdom yesterday and I happened to notice a cart/stand that caters to allergies. Specifically I notice they had gluten free stuff (cookies, donuts and cupcakes), but they had other things as well. It was located across from It's touch to be a bug exit, near Flame tree BBQ. I didn't recall ever reading about it, and thought others might like to know.

The cart was there when we went in September, and had been open for a little while at that point. It had even been covered by news media.

If you go up to the cart, in addition to the food and drink items you can buy, when we went in september they also had CMs there who were very knowledgable about food allergy issues. And they had a HUGE multi-inch-thick binder that had the ingredients for every food item at every AK restaurant. Which they would go through with you to help you find something you could eat -- I had a great discussion with the CM as we identified options (down to the this pizza crust with this sauce and that fake cheese and that pepperoni, all at that restaurant). Doing so made it MUCH easier and faster when it came to order our food later in the day -- i was able to explain to the manager at the QS restaurant i chose that my allergies were ABC, i had been to the allergy cart and read the ingredient book and that XYZ is what I wanted; we had a breif discussion and then she was off to bake pizza; much faster than a normal allergy QS experience is because the leg-work was done upfront already.

I visited this cart in November, because of the g/f offerings. At that time, the CM said the kiosk was an "experiment" being done by WDW to see how it went over with the guests. They were looking for feedback - and so I made a point to send an email to WDW after my trip, telling them how much I appreciated this kiosk. The CM made it sound that if it was a success, they may look to add Allergy Kiosks to the other parks in the future - here's hoping!!! :)

THANK YOU - I am headed back in Sept after 2 year absence. I went GF weeks ago, and am better for it. On top of that, I have allergies I to foods.

Now, I can get a fun snack or food item and be in the happiest place. :cool1:

That would be so nice to be able to identify foods I can and can't eat BEFORE getting in line somewhere! I wish all the parks did this. And I wonder why they haven't by now.

So you can find ingredients for QS foods at this kiosk??? Can you find ingredients to TS meals? I'd heard about the kiosk, but I thought it was just allergy-friendly snacks and info about where to find allergy-friendly ingredients (like the Special Diets lists).
