Allergy aware travel agent?

Hey everyone!

I have a dear friend whose children (son-4, daughter-7) are severely allergic and contact reactive to peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, dairy, soy, and egg. They would love to go to Disney but as you can imagine, their lives are consumed with planning and worry. Does anyone know of any "allergy aware" travel agents or have any advice for them in this arena? Thanks!

Direst them to this forum on this website, and have them read the very informative stickies at the top!

In all honestly, I'm not sure that I could leave the planning of my child's meals to a TA, even a very "allergy aware" one. With very severe allergies, I would want to be the one making those decisions. I second the recommendation to send your friend to the boards here for information in planning their vacation. The people on here have great first-hand information on all the allergies you've mentioned.

Thanks for the input. I have directed her here, so hopefully she'll find her way here and find some helpful information. Trust me, it's not that she wants a TA to plan her child's meals, she is extremely vigilant (as I'm sure you can imagine) in planning and securing all locations and food for her little ones. I think she just thought that a TA that has experience in this area could be to her benefit and may suggest things not necessarily food related that the mother wouldn't know was an option to them.

VIP cleaning of the rooms might be one of those. I think it is really designed for those with chemical allergies, but if she is concerned about room surfaces being contaminated, WDW may be able to clean very thoroughly for her.

Otherwise, letting her know to flag all of her TS reservations with 'allergy,' ask for the chef at TSes, and ask for the chef and binder at CSes is huge. We were able to take my highly allergenic friend (8 anaphylactic allegies) to WDW and feel more at ease than we ever do at home.

I am not a TA but I am a wanna-be who has done the Disney 'allergy dance' more times than I care to count! LOL!

I'm very happy with my TA and anything I've had her book for me she's gladly made whatever allergy related notes or requests that I've asked for, but I'd never leave it up to her to know what to ask for.
