Allergy/asthma bedding

Does anybody use allergy/asthma mattress casings? If so, what kind? Have you noticed relief in your symptoms? DD needs new ones and I figure if I am doing hers, I will do our bed and DS also.

I do. I don't know the brand, but we bought allergy bed cover and pillow covers at Kohls. I have them on my bed at home and at school. I think it did help a bit, although I switched only a few weeks before I started allergy medicine, so I don't really remember at this point. But when we bought them they were on sale, and we're also at the point with my symptoms where we'll try just about anything. Heck, I even have allergy barrier pillows.

Yes, we use mattress casings, bedspring casings, and pillow casings on our bed. I ordered them from National Allergy Supply and we really like them. We ordered the cheapest ones (Soft-Tek, I think) and we have really noticed a difference in my allergies (I am severely allergic to dust mites).

National Allergy is very good about customer service too... I accidently ripped a hole in our mattress casing when I was changing the sheets one day and they replaced it for free with no questions asked (the kind we ordered have a five-year guarantee I think).

Also, be sure to cover the zippers of the casings with tape because dust mites can get through the tiny holes in the zipper!

I bought DS one for his bed and pillow at Walmart. They have held up nicely. I need to get some for the rest of us. Good luck.
