Air fares have been ridiculously high from flying out of Chicago to Orlando. I found that Allegiant is much cheaper, but baggage fees are outrageous. Has anyone flown with them lately. They have a chart for fees and a pre-paid carry-on is $13. When I go to check out, it says it's $30!

I have flown Allegiant and that was last year before they implemented the carryon fee but they were great. Actually the oneway carryon bag fee from Rockford, Il is $15 so $30 return is correct.

Thanks, I just realized it was the roundtrip fee! It is actually still much cheaper with checking a couple bags, so I'm going to do it. I'm going to make my husband and boys carry large purses as their personal item! We are flying out of Gary since they're a bit cheaper!

Oh and another question. If I don't pay for the pre-selected seats, would they split the kids up too if they are 3 and 7? As long as we each have on next to us, I'm not worried. I'm trying not to pay so many extra fees.

You'll get whatever is left after the people who paid for seats choose. There may not be 2 seats together, that's a risk you take.

I flew on Allegiant last year and it was fantastic. It is no frills and even with the extra fees it was way cheaper than the other airlines as long as you read the fine print. I would suggest paying for priority seating so that you have assigned seats and your party can sit together, otherwise you will have what is left over and yall could all be seperated on the plane. I flew with a 7 and 5 year old and it worked out very well. It was very easy to navigate from Sanford as well. As a side note we rented a suburban from Alamo directly and got a greata deal. Have a great trip.

My inlaws took Allegiant a couple of years ago and had a good experience. Even with the extra fees, they got a great rate (which included a minivan). I suggested that they get priority seating since it was a first flight for the kids. They checked a couple of bags, too. I would still use this airline and just limit the number of checked/carryon bags. I would also book priority seating.
