Does anyone fly with them very often and if so how often do they run specials?

About 2 weeks ago they had Chattanooga to Orlando for $39.00 each way but I didn't think the fly times would work for us. Now I have found that the flight times will be great but the price is $79.00 each way. Not bad but $39.00 is great. Also does anyone know if they do like southwest and let you get a refund if the fare lowers?

Thanks.

We just flew Allegiant and were happy with them. It is a no frills airline. You have to pay for drinks, snacks, choosing your seat, & checked bags. However, for a direct flight we could not come close to beating the rates they offer!
Once you buy the ticket, they will NOT refund you if the price lowers. Another thing I learned about the low rates is there are only a set number of tickets available at that price. So say it says the price is $39 and you need 4 tickets, they may only have 3 tickets for the $39 price and the other one would be $99.
This happened to me in March. The site showed the price to be $69. I needed 6 tickets and could only get 3 for that price . The others were $99. They do change the prices a lot too it seems , so my best advise is if you find a rate you like, BUY IT and dont look again to see if they reduced the price :)
Best of luck

Can't answer on the frequency of their sales, but they do NOT offer refunds or credit if the fare goes lower. Their is a FAQ on their website that answers that and other questions.

I'm booked on Allegiant from Chattanooga to Orlando in Oct for $49 each way.

Allegiant Air uses Orlando Sanford Airport, not Orlando International Airport.

If you're planning to rent a car anyway, that's not a big deal. You'll simply have a longer drive from the airport to WDW on your flight days.

However, if you were hoping to use Disney's free Magical Express transportation, you have to use Orlando International Airport.

Renting a car if you hadn't planned to rent one can eat up all the cost saving that Allegiant Air might offer. And if you choose to use a towncar service instead of renting a car, be aware that towncars from Sanford cost quite a bit more than from Orlando International because of the greater distance.

Does anyone know how much the "checked baggage fee" is? Also exactly how far is SFB from Orlando? We're thinking of using Allegiant in November but I guess really need to think about this!! Right now there site is saying $39 one way so without the checked baggage fee the total comes to $297.90 RT for the 3 of us (this does include their $7.50 per person convenience fee).

Oh and are their planes small like commuter planes? TIA!!

I think the checked baggage fee is $2 each way. I usually only pack 1-2 big suitcases for our family and then a few carryons so if I travel Allegiant I will only pay the fee for 2 passangers to check a bag.

Oh and are their planes small like commuter planes?
Allegiant flies a fleet of several different models of Boeing (originally McDonnell Douglas) MD-80 series aircraft. These are not small commuter planes; they're twin-engine, single-aisle aircraft with 2 seats on one side of the aisle an 3 seats on the other. It's a type of aircraft used my many airlines; for example, it's the major aircraft type in American Airlines' domestic fleet.

I've never flown Allegiant Air, but I understand they not only charge for checked luggage, but also for in-flight beverages and snacks and for advance seat assignments.

From Orlando Sanford to WDW is 44.3 miles according to Yahoo Maps.

From Orlando International to WDW is 20.3 miles according to Yahoo Maps.

For the mileage calculation, I used Disney's Old Key West Resort at WDW as the destination. The mileage to most other WDW resorts will be somewhat higher. Also, the roads that Yahoo Maps chose (including 408 and I-4) are not the roads I would choose.

If you're renting a car anyway, the extra 24 miles will mean an extra half hour of driving each way and additional tolls. But you're likely to recover some of that time because Sanford is a smaller airport, so you should save time getting out of the airport.

I made a trip to my local airport to purchase my tickets at the Allegiant counter to avoid the $7.50 service charge (for online or phone orders). The ticket agent said that if you pay for your checked baggage when you purchase your tickets, it is $2/bag each way. However if you wait until you check-in for your flight, he said it would be $5/bag each way. I figured I would pay less for 2 bags for each person now than I would for 1 bag for each person later, so I went ahead and paid for 2 bags per person.

Wow! 2 bags per person! I guess I really do travel light if I'm only planning on 2 bags for our whole family. Of course summer clothes don't take up much space and I will have a washer/dryer.

We flew on Allegiant 2 weeks ago, between Knoxville & St. Pete/Clearwater. I will definetly fly them again. We looked into flying into Sanford, but Clearwater had much better flight times/days for us. The drive between Clearwater and Orlando was an easy drive (We missed the traffic). They are actually adding a few new days between Knoxville & Sanford, so we may fly in there next time.

We are in Knoxville and have used Allegiant to fly to Vegas twice. We are very pleased with the airline, but I hate the limited departure and return dates. And the flight times to Vegas are horrible, but we got really good deals each time.

They told us the same plane we flew on was the one they fly to Orlando. Don't know if this is true or not, but the plane was decent.

We booked a month ago for Disney using Allegiant and got the $39 rate. I am very pleased with this. I was thinking they flew into Orlando, but it is Sanford airport. Oh well... it will still be cheaper renting a car than paying the higher fares and flying straight into Orlando.

I miss Independence Airline.

We have flown with them the last 3 times. LOVE THEM. The drive from Sanford is easy and fast. We took the tollway. Alamo has a great facility there and they even offer GREAT deals when you book their tickets. During the winter with a non stop flight is a plus too. We will always fly them now.

Do you remember how long timewise it took you to get to Cape Canaveral from Sanford airport?

Also, is the Alamo rental car company right there in the airport terminal or is there a lot of walking to get to it? TIA

We're flying with Allegiant for the first time this coming November for our 1st Disney Cruise (this is a time of 1st for us I guess :goodvibes) and was just wondering what to expect. We're getting in to Sanford at 5:50pm in the afternoon on a Friday so we're actually spending 2 nights at the Country Inn & Suites before our cruise on Sunday. The flight with Allegiant is going to be $78.00 RT for each of us (me, dh, and dd) which is absolutely great!!! We can't wait!!! Oh, we also got a good deal on the room at CI&S. Used Priceline and got $72.98 + tax per night. I didn't think that was bad at all either! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

I never made that drive. Only Sanford to WDW.

Alamo is not right in the terminal, but it's about 2 short city blocks from there. It's not bad at all and they have a huge selection of cars and lots of people working. At Christmas (Sat before) there was NO wait. It was great. DH and the kids got the luggage and I went to get the car and drove around to pick them up. It's easy.

Those who have flown into Sanford.... Do you remember how long a drive it was to Disney and is it a pretty easy drive?

Thanks for all of the replies! I'm so excited and I wanted to tell all of my DIS friends!! Me and DD went to our local airport this afternoon (local meaning about an hour away but better than the hour and a half from RDU which we normally fly out of) and booked our flight with Allegiant Air!!  We are flying out on 11/23 and flying back in on 11/30. Flight for all 3 of us and 4 checked bags came to a grand total of $303.40!!!!  Now all we have to do is get a rental car price that we can be happy with!!

It is exactly one hour to the Port from the Sanford Airport. You take 46 out of Sanford to 95 and than south on 95 to the Port canaveral exit. I think it is #208. than to the east on 528 into the Port. The Country Inn and suites is about one mile past the port and on the right. You can't miss it.

It's an easy drive. Take the tollway to avoid traffic jams.
We landed at around 3:00 and we were in our room checked in at AKL by 4:15
It's a snap!

Thanks.....this makes me feel better. I was worried it would be a long drive. Do you think it is a better option to rent a rental car or use a town car?

We usually dont ever leave disney once we are there. But it would be nice to stop on the way if I see something interesting.
