Anyone ever fly with them? Good or bad experiences? Are the planes old and ready to fall apart? They have non-stop flights, but I've never heard of them.

They fly out of our local airport, so I've considered using them, but since they fly into Sanford instead of MCO, I wouldn't be able to use DME.

I'd be interrested to hear any reviews, though!

Oh they're fine. We've flown them to Sanford and to Vegas. Our local airport recently got a nonstop flight to the Tampa area too which we hope to take when we go to Anna Maria Island for spring break in March. I can't say anything negative about them at all.

Thanks. We flew with Northeast back in '04. They had a non-stop flight. Oh my, the plane was in pretty rough shape. Since the non-stop tickets for Allegiant are cheap, I thought maybe they would be the same.

Hi Allie and MattsMom :wave2: I think your local airport is my local airport too (Rockford?). I've flown Allegiant several times with no problems. The Sanford airport is a bit farther than MCO, but the cost and convenience of not having to drive into O'Hare is worth it. ::yes::

Hey :wave2: . No. Our local airport is Peoria. Unfortunately, our airport stopped service to Sanford. Said they weren't getting enough business, but the flights were always sold out :confused3 . So now we have non stop to Las Vegas, which I really don't care that much about and we just added the direct flight to Tampa. Who knows how long we'll keep it. Do you guys still have the direct to Sanford?

Plenty of mentions of this airline on the Transportation board!

ALL GOOD!

I took them from Allentown Pa to Sanford & back in July, for 79.00 each way.
:thumbsup2 The planes are older, same as the EXPENSIVE airlines. Very well kept.

Only good things too say about Allegiant! Also they arrived 1/2 earlier on the way down.

Nice thing is that they fly in & out of small airports.....We had our luggage & was out of the airport within 15 minutes! :thumbsup2

ps Sanford to WDW area is a 45 minute drive

We flew Allegiant Air this past January, round trip Lansing to Orlando/Sanford.
The planes were fine and we loved it being non-stop from Lansing instead of either having to get on another plane in Detroit or driving to Detroit to get on.

Small problem on the return flight, we were on the plane and ready to go when they discovered a small oil leak. They thought it would be okay, but still decided to put us on another plane so that took awhile to do. But I would rather be "safe than sorry" so it was no big deal, just put us an hour late getting home.

I would definitely fly Allegiant Air again.

I've flown Allegiant to Vegas twice, and my friend's family just returned from WDW this weekend, they flew Allegiant into Sanford. They were staying at Shades of Green, so no DME even if they went into MCO. They said it took about 40 minutes to get from Sanford to WDW on a Sunday afternoon. Both flights left early, and arrived 45 minutes early.

Allegiant flies full size jets, MD-80 series, 2 seats on the left, 3 seats on the right. It's no frills, so no video or audio channels, they charge for any drink except water. $2 for a can of Pepsi. which is a huge travesty to a Diet Coke girl! no free snacks either.

but you can't argue with the price and I love the direct flights. the only way I can beat it is to drive 3 hours to Kansas City and fly Southwest.

Here's my theory...if you've never heard of them, that means you've never heard of them crashing either. :D

Allegiant recently started flying into Sanford from our local airport. They just added the Tampa flights as well.

I would love to be able to fly w/out having to drive to RDU, but it just depends on the rates. SW can have some good sales as well, making it worth the drive.

If we got a good rate, we would fly then in a second. I am crossing my fingers for a summer 2007 trip!!

You're not serious, are you? You stand a better chance of getting in an auto accident and dying from that than you do from an airplane!!

No, I'm not serious.

I've used them from Green Bay to Vegas, Madison to Vegas, and Rockford to Vegas. The planes are small but not run down. They are "no frills" which means that you don't get any beverages or snacks for "free" they charge you for them. The overhead compartments were small and the seats not too roomy. But all were non-stop flights much cheaper than their competitors. Some of my flights were delayed but I've run into that on every airline I have flown so I don't hold that against them. I would definitely use them again!
