If we don't pay for seat selection will they sit kids away from their parents? We are 2 adults and 2 kids. We are okay with not sitting together but we would need one parent with a child, they wouldn't separate us from our kids or would they?

If sitting with your children is important than pay for the seat assignments. YES airlines have separated children from their parents (search this forum and you will find it has been seen/experienced). Airlines are under no obligation to force people to move so families can sit together. IF you choose not to pay and someone else paid for their family to sit together or an individual paid for their seat nobody HAS to move so you can sit together.

You need to figure seat costs into your total airline ticket price. With full flights these days and with a trip to MCO and it being lots of kids and families I'd pay the fee to ensure you sit together and then keep watching and see if plane changes (this has been known to happen and seats are moved around).

Don't rely on someone who paid for a seat moving for you and the 'threat of you will sit next to my kid' really doesn't work. There is no law that parents have to sit with their kids....
