We normally fly Southwest, but Allegiant not only is almost $400 cheaper but also a direct nonstop 2 hour flight from Boise, whereas SWA is about 4 hours with a stop and plane change.

Has anyone flown Allegiant recently and are they worth it? We fly with minimal baggage (and I priced it out with our normal bags). We have 3 young kids (2, 4 and 7), will they automatically assign a parent to sit next to them if we don't reserve seats? That would save us another $100.

Do Allegiant, its worth the savings. It's a short enough flight.
Allegiant is fine, average airline in all respects.

We just flew them last week out of Bellingham. We have flown them to LA, Las Vegas and San Francisco. We accept that it may take longer to check a bag (if we have a checked bag), print our boarding passes at home/use our phone etc, and that yes you pay for drinks on the plane if you really want them but sometimes the direct flight (Alaska- the other airline out of Bellingham stops in Seattle) is worth it to save a few hundred dollars. We decided our flying Allegiant savings paid for our Blue Bayou Fantasmic dinner...
Our plane was delayed (suppose to leave at 3pm) but they called/texted/emailed at 5:30am to let us know.
The cabin crew and pilots both ways were outstanding, they must be trying to make up for the Allegiant foibles.
Our DD was assigned a seat with me on the way there, and DH was up a row and the person gladly switched for us, on the way back we were assigned 3 seats together. I believe they have kids beside at least 1 parent.

We have flown Allegiant out of Bellingham, as well. You definitely pay for each little thing, but we had no issues with the crew--they were great. We also really enjoyed the window in the bathroom on our plane. ;-)

I'm always about the nonstop. If you can get a non-stop AND it's cheaper--that's a no-brainer, pretty much.

we flew w allegiant to la for our 2012 dlr trip. we really like flying allegiant. cheaper flights, (package deal of air car and hotel was amazing ) and the flights were direct.

We fly Allegiant fairly frequently because of the price difference and the direct flight versus stops. Since it's just one flight, it's not the end of the world. You just have to bring your own snacks, realize that the seats are smaller than normal with less legroom, and remind yourself of the money you are saving. My sister like it a lot better with her kids because it's so much faster and they don't have to deal with a layover. I recommend it for the savings!
