How am I gonna get myself and 9yr son on plane in 3 weeks? Im scared

The flights are all cancelled now. I leave on Friday for WDW. I can't believe this has happened. It seems so unreal.

I am suppose to leave on Thursday night for WDW but we have can cancelled our plans for several reasons. 1) I am a little bit afraid to fly right now 2) The airports, if they reopen, will be jammed with passengers that were suppose to fly out today. I have standby tickets, there is virtually no way I will get on a flight standby 3) I am just not in a vacation mood anymore. My prayers go out to everyone who has family or friends involved in this horrific terrorist attack. I also pray for the safety of all of us.

Glad I'm not flying. And it gives me real pause to think about flying over the holidays....

I fly next wed but I'm not scared at all. the security will be the tightest of tight. Bin Laden must be stopped this is unbelievable. when we sat thru our 2 hrs of security training I never in my life imagined anything like this. I heard that the pilots were working for him. no confirmation on this yet. and the carriers that were picked are the 2 that fly into his space/territory. he is unbelievable.

I agree with Beverly. I have a flight on Thursday. Assuming the planes are in the air, I will be there EARLY since I expect that Security will be on HIGH ALERT! However, I figure I am still safer in the air than on the interstates in Nashville. (See my car totaled story on the CB for more on that!)

I would get there early and be prepared for ALL of your carryon to be opened and looked at. They may not do it, but sometimes things like hairdryers, curling irons etc... can look strange on the screens and I feel certain they will check them.

Carol: First of all, I'm including your flag in my signature line. I hope you don't mind. It really struck me...

Secondly, yes I am scared to fly and was a little nervous before. I, too, think the pilots and/or crew must have had something to do with this. No pilot, even if forced, would do that. I thought this before they said this on tv. It just had to be for things to go unnoticed. I don't know how the airlines and government can reassure us that this won't happen again. I believe there wasn't any weapons involved. That's just my opinion, but it all just doesn't make sense. This is so undescribable and so scary. My DD's school is on a lockdown and had to cancel all statewide ISTEP testing.

My heart and prayers go out to everyone involved in this tragedy. I can't imagine being there. My DH was at OK City a week after the bombing there. He said it was unbelievable...

You did not steal the flag from me. Someone over on the CB board posted this for everyone to copy! They also posted the little flag.

I'm not too afraid of flying, but more so of the crowds. The airports will be secure and checking everything to be sure.

We were just speculating why an American pilot, who knows he will die anyway, if forced to crash into the World Trade Ctr, would not try to alert someone. Or maybe he did...they will probably find the black box and know if anything was said.

Hard to believe a pilot with 22 yrs experience and a military background would be involved, maybe people are just looking at ways to see HOW this could happen.

Don't be surprised if only ticketed passengers are allowed past security now. which means if you are taking little sally to the airport you will not be permitted to go to the gate are with her.

Security will be so tight and I welcome it. I fly out of Dulles and work in Washington DC and today I am in shock that this has happened in our Nation's capital and in NY. The sadness is overwhelming and I have to go back to Washington tomorrow to go back to work. The 4 black boxes have been located, so hopefully we'll know more soon, but all of the lost lives today is so devastating.

i would not be afraid to fly

bl is right, security in the immediate aftermath of this will be TIGHT, plus we cannot let the terrorists win. if we cancel our plans due to fear, they win.

Local news has reported that one of the stewardesses on one of the AA flights called AA corporate from the air on her cell phone and told them they were highjacked and they had stabbed two stewardesses and had broken into the cockpit. AA would not confirm or deny this. If this did happen leads me to believe that the crews weren't involved.

the one reporter on board told of it too. she said they had knives and carboard like weapons. the flight attendants were probably attacked as well.

I am scared to death to fly out of Boston. I've always thought security there was way to relaxed. We're going to WDW in February and flying out of Logan and I'm seriously considering renting a mini van and driving down!

Well, we all know now what basically happened. As I said before, there was no way a pilot would do this. We now know the real pilot didn't. It just didn't make sense before, but now it does.

My sister doesn't want to go to WDW in Oct now. My 9 yr old DD is scared as well. I told her the security will be so tight, it will actually be safer. Course, saying that and believing it is a different thing. Like my DH said, if you don't go to WDW and fly, "he" wins. That's true.
