How easy/difficult will it be for me to get to Fort Wilderness for the nightly campfire program and then back again to the All Star Sports? I'm without a rental car this trip (for the very first time) and will be completely dependent on Disney transportation. Has anyone done this before? Will I wait long? How long will it take me approximately? I'm assuming I would take a bus from the hotel to the TTC and then catch one to Fort Wilderness? Does anyone know of a different way? If the campfire thing ends around 9:00 or so, will I be able to catch buses that late? This is in Sept. by the way when parks tend to close early.

Thanks!

I did this on our trip in May. It took about 1 1/2 hours to get there from AsMu. That was the only bad experience we had with the transportation. Everything wlse is so streamlined.

The bus drivers from the terminal area (or whatever you call it!) and the busdriver that took us to the campfire area were a little on the non-patient side! Both of these drivers added a negative to the ride. Anyway- we got on the original AsMu at 6:30 and just made it to the campfire at around 8;05 (including the small distance you have to walk).

Disney could and needs to improve this but i guess it is last on the list sincw the campfire is free!:bounce:

Getting there will be easier than getting back. There is no bus from ASMu to the TTC, so instead take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, then the boat to Fort Wilderness. The campfire is held near the Meadows trading post near the center of the campground, so you will still have a walk or short bus ride. Total time about an hour.

Or you can take a short bus ride to Animal Kingdom and transfer there to the bus that goes to Fort Wilderness. Total time about an hour and a half.

-----------------

After the campfire it depends on which parks are still open. AK will be closed so that bus will not be operating, and if MK has been closed more than an hour the boat back to MK will not be operating either.

That leaves you with the "Boone" or "Crockett" bus to the TTC, where you transfer to a bus or monorail going to a park that is still open. Then transfer to the bus going to your resort. Total time 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Finally, if no parks are open you go from the TTC to Downtown Disney and transfer to your resort bus there. Also at least 1 1/2 hours.

Yuck! I think we'll pass on the campfire program then. It's not worth the 1-1/2 hour bus trip.....

Thanks for the information though!!
