Hi
We are thinking of staying on site and as we are not hiring a car was wondering what sort of transport will get us to Universal and Seaworld? i have heard of the Mears cars but that seems to be $12 per person per round trip, i was wondering if the Lynx buses run from Disney to Universal and Vice a versa or maybe a cab but was wondering how expensive they are for a family of 4?

Hi

We used Lynx from the TTC to Seaworld. Something like $3 for a day pass on Lynx. We also got a bus to the Florida Mall from the TTC so I am pretty sure with a bit of transferring you could get one to Universal.

We did find this method of transport time consuming though - remember to factor in time getting to the TTC.

We have always used Mears to universal in the past, for our next trip we are going to hire a car :)

We have used a taxi for these trips - not the cheapest way to do it, but certainly no more than Mears if there are 4 of you (you pay for the vehicle, not per person), and much more convenient.

Last time we did this was a few years ago now, but I seem to remember it costing around $15 each way. Even if I'm out on that figure, I'm sure it wouldn't be more than the $48 round trip cost of a shuttle.

When there were just two of us we did use Mears and found them very efficient, but we did find ourselves a little restricted by being tied to the times that suited them, rather than us.

I've taken a taxi from Universal back to DTD and it came in at about $20-25. Financially it's going to be cheaper to rent a car for those 2,3 or 4 days than to use taxis all over the place and it would also give you the opportunity to get any shopping done while you have the transport to get the goodies home easily. Unless you have a big downer on the idea of renting a car I would suggest you reconsider the driving option as the flexibility to come and go at your own timetable is worth the streses ( minimal IMHO) of taking to Orlando's roads.

In 2001 we went from all stars movies via disney bus to MK, then from MK to TTC. TTC to seaworld via Lynx. I-trolley from sea world to nearest stop to Universal and then we walked down the road into Universal. The first night we had a taxi back to DTD and then disney bus back to hotel (we could not find a bus that late on) approx cost for taxi $25. The next day we went to and returned from Universal via I-trolley etc.
We plan to do this again this year unless anyone has any other ideas.
It did take up some of the time but fun for 2 adults and a 7year old.!!!
