I am torn between the two hotels, there is a £350 difference in price so is Port Orleans worth the extra money if so why?

There are three important factors to consider here. Location, Location, Location. If you're planning to visit all of the parks, choose the one that offers the easiest access to the places you're planning to spend the most time.

With these 2 resorts, location is no big deal. They're both probably the same distance driving. Only difference is, All Stars buses are easier to navigate and don't drive around the resort to different stops, with Port Orleans buses do.

POR rooms are slightly larger and there is a boat to DD.

POR is a smaller resort, bus access may be easier due to smaller crowds.

Then go with POR French Quarter. One bus stop , small resort so everything is close by (bus, food court, arcade, pool with slide) We loved it! You still have the boat to DD Disney too.

I think it depends on a number of factors. How many people will you have in the room? The max at All Star is 4 and that is what had (2 adults and DD's 3 &1) and we found the rooms very small and not very good for getting children to sleep and night.

The POR rooms are slightly bigger and have a pull out trundle bed which allows upto 5 people in a room. It also has a double sink in the bathroom area which we found great.

For us personally, POR was worth the extra $$. The grounds are beautiful and it is a very pleasant walk from POR to POFQ along the river. I found AS too much like a concrete jungle, altho the decorating is very cool.

It will just be me. So a smaller room is no problem. I just wanted to know if it was woth the extra money.

I've stayed at both and chose to go back to ASMo for my next trip. I liked POR, but the bus service was not very good and there was a lot of walking from my room to the main building. The AS's are large, but not spread out as much as POR. I also had much better bus service at AS. If you plan on spending more time at your resort, POR is nice since it offers some extras that the AS's don't. If you plan on just using your room to sleep and shower in, save your money and stay at AS.

We have stayed at Movies and Music, If I had not bought into DVC I would never stay in them again without a car. Buses are slow and overcrowded. The rooms and beds are soooo small. There are only 3 of us and we trip over each other in the room. We stayed at CBR a few years ago and they are roomier and trans. was not as crowded.

Here are the extras you get with POR:

1. central location

2. A full service restaurant--Boatwrights

3. Two sinks

4. Free refrigerator

5. privacy curtain at the sink area

6. pool with a slide (this was a HUGE deal to our kids--they LOVED the pool slide)

7. larger room size than All-Stars

8. boat transportation available to Downtown Disney

You'll have to decide if these perks are worth the extra money for your family, but the above list includes the basic upgrades you'd get at a moderate resort vs. a value resort.

How much time do you plan on spending in your room? That's always a determining factor for us. If you plan on having a rental car, location isn't really a concern. Really, it comes down to how much money you want to put into a room to sleep in and the ammenities you want while in your room. We don't spend much time in our room and prefer to spend our money on table service resturaunts & souveniers;o)

I think Port Orleans is DEFINITELY worth the extra money. The theming is so far superior. And this is from a person who's one of the biggest cheapskates. I'd stayed in POR and POFQ many times, but on one trip, POR was closed, so I transferred to ASMusic. Never again! It just looked so cheap to me the whole time I was there. And it reminded me of a college dorm.

How much time we plan on spending in our room determines the resort for us, too. We save Deluxes for times when we want to spend more time relaxing by the pool, and book value resorts for when we know we will be in the parks more. We've stayed at all of the WDW resorts except Ft. Wilderness Cabins and have enjoyed them all!

POR has a hot tub too! The overall atmosphere is more relaxed and vacation-like at POR.Beautiful landscaping.Well worth extra money to me!
