In the last we have always stayed at the Pop Century in two preferred rooms. This year we are looking to switch it up. We typically stay for 15 nights and benefit from free dining promotions. (Last year I had a pin code and previous years booked during promotion times). This year we are looking at staying at All Star Music family suite but now I have been looking at renting points and I can get a studio at Animal Kingdom for very little more (about $200 each per adult including paying for quick service dining. There will be 3 adults staying in the room. We like the idea of having a kitchenette and also the idea of having somewhere else to sit at night rather than in a bed. What would you do?

When are you planning to stay? And which view are you pricing at AKV?

Planning from jan 25-feb 9. We are thinking just the value suite.

You would have more room in the family suite, including 2 bathrooms.

There are just a handful of value villas (all at Jambo House) and they typically go right when the 11-month window opens. So if you want to rent points, then you should be budgeting for standard or savannah view for your dates.

Just know that at AKV, a studio will have a queen bed and a full-sized pullout couch.

Renting points can be a great option (and saves a lot of money over rack rate). But make sure your trip and dates are firm because there's often no changes or refunds allowed.

If you are going to try to get a value studio at AKV, you should try to find a DVC member who owns at AKV quickly, before the 7 month booking window opens. There are not many value studios and they book very quickly because the points are so low. They may already be booked. Now, as to your original question, we almost always rent points because we love the villas and feel it's the cheapest way to get a deluxe resort. As long as you are comfortable with having one queen and one pullout sofa, you should be fine.
