Ok, this is the deal.

We are currently booked at POR for next week for 5 nights, 6 days, my DH has said if we stay at All Stars instead, we can stay for an extra 2 nights :yay:

I cant get anywhere with Disney Ressies today, thier system has been down all day :scared1:

On thier website, the only option that comes up for my dates is All Star Sports :bitelip:

My question is has anyone stayed there recently? I just read on another post that the rooms have recently been refurbished. Has any one been recently? If so how was it?

Thanks for all your help, I could really use two extra days of magic.

I'm staying there for the first time in August, but after reading everything I can find on the resort I can say that--
1.all of the rooms have been refurbished and look very nice;
2there is no big group staying at the resort during my week (you can go to the Disney's Wide World of Sports website to see what's happening your week--I have events, but after looking though the groups' websites i found out they aren't staying at AS Sports.
3. Sports is the first to be picked up dropped off of the buses, which is a big plus to me.

We're in the same boat as you. We love POR and have stayed there twice, but for the same price (or less) we can add days and stay at Sports. We stayed at Pop once and we're thrilled, but we don't spend a ton of time at the resort so I want more days.

If you have any specific questions, let me know.

We've stayed at both resorts. As far as room size, to me there isn't that much difference in size between the two resorts. You get an extra sink at POR. Other than that, both rooms have two double beds and a tiny toilet/bathtub-shower room. Both have an annoying open closet rack. I always wonder why Disney can't put a door on the closet.

POR has a nicer ambience if you like lots of plants, flowers, etc. To me, there isn't much difference in the food courts. POR has a nice boat ride to DownTown Disney. POR's pool has a slide. POR does have a table service restaurant and a bar area with piano player at night -- but if you're not going to use those amenities, it doesn't really matter.

Having stayed at both resorts, if I were going in a romantic trip with dh I might pick POR. Otherwise, I'd go with ASSp and the extra two days.

When we stayed at ASSp we paid a bit extra for a preferred room. We were in the Surf's Up building which was very convenient to the pool, the food court and the parking lot (we had a car).

If you're going to spend most of your time at the theme parks and dining at other resorts, I'd go with ASSp.

We have stayed at both and enjoyed them both equally for different reasons. We stayed in the touchdown building facing the football field which is pretty much in between the 2 pools and close to the food court and found it to be a good location. I would definitely choose ASSp if it meant 2 extra days!

We just got back 5/23 after a week at AS Sports and had a great experience! Our room was very nice, very clean and very quiet which was a big surprise! We were in the surfs up building with a pool view room. It was very close to pool, food court, bus stops and with 2 small children all of this was very helpful.

We really have no complaints about our stay and would stay again without hesitation. As a family we are pretty low maintenance and our stay was better than we could have imagined. For me, I would take 2 more days at Disney and enjoy some down time in the pool;) .

Happy travels!!

We are debating the same thing~kinda.
We are thinking of staying 5 days for free dining in August.
It is either ASSports, or stay here in New Jersey & go down the shore.
We are already going to go to Atlantic City in July, but for $2,000.00 we can go to *** w/free dining & airline tickets.
Decisions decisions!

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts, I finally got thru to Disney and we are staying at pop for 8 days. :cool1:
