What is the best building to be in while at All-Star Sport? I'm about to call and request bed rails for DS and thought I'd request a building as well.

I am curious about All Star Sports, dont seem to find alot of posts on it. We wanted Pop Century but it was booked a long time ago
And stayed at all star movies in april, LOVED IT. Anybody have thoughts on all star sports? I am going with my sons for free dining in August, I am sure they will LOVE it

I just stayed at the sports in december and i am going back in august an i loved it.

For room choice, i would suggest the touchdown (football) building for a few reasons:
Aside from the preferred buildings, it is th ecloset to the main building (it only ttok us about 3-5mins to walk to the main building and we were in the farthest room possible in that section
It is defintiley quieter than the preferred section b/c you dont have the pool noise all day so goin gbakc for a midday nap is a lot easier b/ cits quieter
It is righ tinbetween the small pool at the homerun section adn the main pool in the surfs up section so you dont have to walk very far to either pool and the small pool is usually a lot quieter and more relaxing than the main pool

We thought the food court was great but we never actually ate IN th efoodcourt....we alwasy took the food back to the room....in th emorning, i woul dsay it could get pretty crowded btw 8 adn 9, depending on when the parks open but we never found it to be insanely crowded adn the selection of food is actually really good

The buses.....this was actually the best experience weve ever had with buses and weve been to WDW like 18 times....The All star resorts dont alwasy share buses....a lot depends on the time of yr and the time of day
You are more likely to share a bus during the slower times or during mid day when most ppl are already at the parks but in the mornings adn at park closing we rarely shared a bus but that can change
But, even if you do share a bus wiht the other All Star resorts, sports is the first stop so you will usually be able to get a seat on the way to the park and you will be the first ones to get off on the way back at night

Thanks for the info! Do you think it's worth it to call back and put a request on the ressie? We have a standard room for the free DDP...we will be happy wherever they put us but this location seems great for a nonpreferred room.

My personal favorite standard location is Homerun Hotel because it is right by the quiet pool which I prefer to the main pool. Also, we are big baseball fans so the theming suits us. It is slightly farther than Touchdown to the main building, so if that is your goal try for Touchdown. If you will have a car, Homerun Hotel is right by the parking lot as well.

I would say yes just b/c youre staying during free DDP so it will probably crowded...they are more likely to honor a request if it is on your reservation than if you just request it when you get there

I agree with the pp that the homerun section is relaly good too so if you cant get the touchdown section when you get there, try for th ehomerun section....anothe rbenefit to both of these sections is that you never have to walk through the main pool area to get to the mian building so you dont hav eto deal with the pool crowds as much
But with the way the hotel is set up, none of the rooms are really that far at all from the main building so i dont think you'll find it to be a long walk no matter where you are
Have Fun!

My family and I have been to WDW hundreds of times-- ok, not much less than 20 for me, but I AM 22-- and we've never stayed in the Sports. This December trip will be me and my husband's 2nd trip together, and I thought he'd get a kick out of it. It didn't even click in my head that they'd be divided up according to sports themes, I know that sounds so stupid!! Maybe I SHOULD request a specific room--after reading this thread! All I know about the hotel is that it's the bus stop's first drop off/pick up! That's always a plus! Hope to see ya'll this December!!:santa:

I don't think there is a bad location at AS Sports. I just came back from the first week in May and stayed in Building #7- touchdown. I was 2 minutes away from the food court and bus stop- they were nice to me and gave me a ground floor. I have stayed in #2- Surf's Building, which is a preferred and also this was quite close. In comparison to moderate resorts like CSR, the value resorts are rather small.

We stayed at All Star Sports this past Sept & enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the Surf building which is close to the food court & bus stop. The sports theme of the resort is cool for any sports lover. For instance, there is a football field in the center of the resort. We never used the pools, so I can't tell you anything about them. We only used the food court 1-2 times for breakfast in the morning & it was good enough for what we needed. I don't ever remember there being any issues with the buses at Sports - I don't think we ever had to wait a long time for any buses. Overall, Sports was a good resort & we would stay there again, but are trying POP this year for something different.

I'm so glad to hear such great reports on the hotel! I didn't have any responses when I called, but did go ahead and request either building 7 or 10 both of them Touchdown buildings. It looked to be the closest to the main building. I did a good job! We're looking forward to the trip. This will be our first BIG trip with DS(2) and he LOVES football. So far so good :)

As a ten time All-Star Sports "veteran",I REALLY like this Resort!:) One thing that a lot of people don't know is that as a Guest at All-Star Sports you are allowed to use the pools, etc. at "sister" Resorts All-Star Music and All-Star Movies. That gives a Guest at the All-Star Resort(Sports,Music,Movies) access to 6 themed pools,3 Food Courts,3 bus stops,3 arcades,3 small playgrounds,3 merchandise shops,6 laundries, etc.:)My favorite section right now is Home Run Hotel.I like it because it is not a Preferred section thereby saving me $95.00 over the course of a 7 night trip(that is A LOT of Mickey Premium ice cream bars:) ),because I really like the Baseball theme that is so detailed, because it has it's own pool(again Baseball themed)and laundry, and because it is the closest All-Star Sports section to All-Star Music.I can simply walk across the parking lot from Home Run Hotel and I am at All-Star Music where I can swim, eat, catch a bus, etc. if I want to.When returning from the Parks,I can simply hop on the first bus,Sports or Music, that arrives and be on my way because the walk from the Bus Stops at All-Star Music and All-Star Sports to Home Run Hotel are close to being the same.:) I have never had much luck adding a room request to my reservation, although I always do it anyway, but have almost ALWAYS had success making a room request at check-in.HAVE FUN AT ALL-STAR SPORTS EVERYBODY!:)
