We just booked for dec 7-11. The only ap discount was for All Star Sports.
Please tell me somethng good about this resort:confused3 . We've never stayed here and have never really desired to, but funds are short this trip.
Anything encouraging would be appreciated, however we need to be aware of the drawbacks. We will not have a car on this trip.
Thank you all

You are still on Dis property which is great! I think the food court is decent and the rooms are decent as well. I dont know which resort you are used to staying in so it is hard to compare for you! I have stayed all over the Dis Resort and this one is ok for me. I am never in the room that much so a place to sleep is all I care too much about. I am not sure of your situation though. If you dont plan on being in the room much you will be fine! There arent any big perks to the music except you are saving money. The bus system is a little rough as there is only one place at each AS Resort so the line may be a bit longer than other resorts. So give yourself an extra 15-20 minutes for bus time. Other than that...enjoy your stay! You are at Disney...no matter what resort you are in!

We loved our stay there in September. I'm somewhat of a hotel snob and I was very happy at Sports . Our experience was great. The resort was well kept up. Paint looked fresh around all areas we walked through. Resort was clean and looked well maintained. We had great customer service. They granted our request for connecting rooms and in the building we requested. We had excellent mousekeeping service. When I requested additional towels for the pool (since they don't offer towels at the pool) they were brought to us within minutes. The room was clean when we got there. Carpet, bedding, towels, etc...were all in great condition. Toiletries were replenished daily. (they don't have the fancy toileties as the upper-scale resorts to...just shampoo/conditioner and soap) We found the beds very comfy and room space was adequate. We had 2 rooms for 5 people, so 2 bathrooms and 4 beds. It would probably feel tight if you had 4 in the rooms as they are small. Food court was always being cleaned up and staff was friendly. (food court does get very busy at peak times, but that goes for any resort)The noise factor....guess this depends on where your room is located. We were in football on the floor level right on the field and there were people playing ball out there nightly. We were never bothered by noise though. I suppose this depends on the guests doing the ball playing...if you happen to get a really rowdy group, you'd probably hear them. If this would bother you, consider a room in a quieter location. The one noise you won't get away from is the showers and toilets. I'm a light sleeper and the noise didn't bother me. I'm also an early riser, so it could have been my shower running that bothered other people. :scared: It's been said to close the bathroom door at night and put a towel down on the floor in front of the door to help hush the noise from flushing and showers. During times buses are shared, Sports is first on and off, so that's a plus and one of the biggest reasons we chose this value over the others. We never had an issue with the bussing. We used ME and were the first dropped off as well as first picked up on our return trip to the airport. Wait times for buses was acceptable. In the past, we've only stayed at mod's. This was our first value resort stay. I'll admit, I was leary. I went with an open mind and told myself not to expect too much....it is a value resort, after all. I decided that I think a lot of the unhappiness at resorts is due to poor mouskeeping. If you get a good mousekeeper that leaves you with a great feeling about your room, that will reflect well on your stay...JMO. Go with an open mind. If you expect the worst, you'll nitpick your vacation. Go with a good attitude and hope for a good mousekeeper. :thumbsup2

Thank for the info. We've stayed at nearly all of the disney resorts over the years with the exceptions of GF, ASmovies, wilderness lodge. I actually loved pop century. We received better customer service than at the poly. I was concerned that the rooms would be worn, but if it's clean and the staff is accomodating, we'll be happy!

I believe AS Sports is in the middle of a rehab so the rooms won't be worn, they will be brand new!!

I stayed at Sports for 9 nights in mid-Sept and they were rehabing the rooms. New beds were being installed, the pool was completely redone, and they were painting everything. I also noticed they had replaced the carpet in the food court during our stay. I had my own concerns about staying at Sports, but they were working really hard to rehab it. I am a big sports fan so I do enjoy the ambiance.

Another great thing about Sports is that you are the first stop for the bus transportation. They stop at Sports first, then Music, then Movies. At the end of the night, you will be very thankful for that.

We have stayed at Sports twice and loved it both times. For the money, IMO, you can't beat it. We are something of theme park commandos so we don't spend much time at the resort. To us (me, DH and 2 DS) it's basically a room to shower and sleep. That said, we find the room very comfortable for the 4 of us. My oldest DS is now 14 and almost 6 feet tall. So when we headed down this time, I thought maybe it would seem more crowded now that we had a teenager and "tween", youngest DS is 10. But didn't feel cramped at all. Food court is good. Bus service prompt (although crowded). Grounds were well kept when we were there. We were in Building 3 (Hoops) and it was very quiet. CMs are great. No complaints at all. :) Have fun.

we stayed there in Sept we had a party of 11 with 3 rooms and it was a good stay.
we love staying at Pop Century that being on of our favortie resorts i have to say that the all star sports it smaller then pop but it's just as nice !

I would stay there again.....

I just looked on pop warner website, and thekids will be at disney for events
dec 4 - 8. should I bracemyself for a lot of noise,rowdiness and crowded busses?

My hubby and I satyed at SPort last Feb for Valentine's day, well 3 days actually, it was nice. We live at the parks, and only use the room for showering and sleeping, so for what we use it for it was great. The room was clean, the huge decoration outside was fun for photo ops, the only complaint I had was we had to go up 3 floors for ice. The cheerleaders nationals were the day before, and I guess used it all up? BUt, luckily they were all boarding buses, we had no noise of any sorts. I have stayed at all 3 all star resorts, the only real difference to me was the bedspreads and the bathroom wallpaper. OUr rooms were all set up the same, of and the shower curtain. If your on a budget, why spend all that hard earned money for a bed? Have a nice time, book a nice dinner, do something ya know your not gonna ever do again, or for a while!! Have fun!! You can always visit the other hotels, there great for taking pics!!! Sorry I rabbit trailed here, but the pools great, the foods pretty good for a cafeteria too!!!;)

I'll be there Dec 8th-16th, so will be there during part of your stay. I've stayed at POP six times and have always enjoyed it. This past May I decided to try AS Sports, just to try something different. I was very pleasantly surprised. I had a preferred room in the Surf's Up building. I was surprised with a king size bed (didn't request it). The room was clean and quiet, mousekeeping was very good, all the CMs I spoke with were very friendly, bus service was fine (in fact better than POP). I always had a seat and seldom waited more than a few minutes for a seat. I was also there Sept 29th-Oct 7th this year and tried AS Music. I preferred AS Sports, (just because of it being the first bus stop). For my trip this Dec I originally booked POP again, but when the Chase Visa code came out had to switch to AS Sports. I have no qualms about staying there again. Also, as someone else posted, they are in the process of rehabbing the resort, so we should have all new furnishings.

For reference I've also stayed at POFQ, CSR, CBR, WL, AKL, and in a studio at Boardwalk. I spend very little time in the room, so really just need a place to lay my head at night. AS Sports is fine.
