I just found out that pop warner will be at WDW the 2nd week of December, the same week as us. We are booked at ASSp and my concern is that this will be the hotel of choice for many of these people.

Has any one ever been at the ASSp during this time? I am concerned about the overloaded busses and the extra noise! Are these boys as bad as the cheer leaders are reported to be? Have nothing aginst the boys, have one myself, just thinking if the crowd increase will effect us if we are staying there.

Thanks for any input!!!1

The Pop Warner Superbowl includes not only football players, but also cheerleaders. I have not experienced them in person, but the stories really varied last year with most folks reporting no problems, but some reported a bad night or two. Sorry. Mickey

Though most of the pop warners probably stay at the All Stars, a few stay at the moderates also. We were in POR last year and there were cheerleaders there, quite noisy for the most part even late a night, and some time the adults were no better. :(

I can understand you concern with staying at AS SPORTS!!

If they are true Disney people, there will be a theme.

Hopefully, someone out there can give you a answer.

Sanilacjack, you’re not by any chance a CHEERLEADER, are you (wink wink)?! You certainly seem to be awfully peppy with your BUMPS. ;)

Best Advice, call Disney and inquire about which resorts they are staying at. They definately invade Sports and I am sure they are several groups at Movies to. You may want to double check and if this is so, move over to AS Music.

I had this experience at the AS a few years back. This was not a magical trip. We didn't realize that all of this went on during this time. We planned a last minute long weekend and just wanted a cheap hotel onsite so as not to rent a car and to keep cost down. We hit the parks commando and came back at night tired. All the kids were hanging around all over, food court, pools, outside of rooms and end of walkways and in general courtyard areas. Some were practicing cheers, kids just playing around, not a lot of parents in site. At midnight, we could hear the kids constantly walking around outside from room to room. They would call out to friends in the courtyards, stop and have a brief conversation in front of your window, slam doors. Just when you were beginning to fall asleep, you would hear something. This went on every night until between 1 and 2 am. Also the resort was completely dirty one night with trash strewn all over. I know that there kids and are there to have fun but at some point people just want to sleep. Pop Warner does have an internet site that may give some of the info. your looking for and may save you a phone call or two.

Hate to tell you, they are at ASMusic too. Our trip overlapped with Pop Warner for about 3 days last year. I really didn't see any difference in terms of crowding in the food court or on the buses, but we had one rowdy group quite near us in the hotel, going around at 11 pm knocking on doors trying to find their friends. One call to the front desk and 15 minutes later, no kids anywhere. I think the All Stars are pretty good at staying on top of the situation. Most kids were very nice and respectful, it's just a few bad apples with inattentive chaparones that give the rest a bad name.

Thanks everyone! I really do love kids this age and my home is full of boys all the time and that is great with me. However, on vacation we are early to bed and then the first at EE. We have had a little trouble with noise at the ASMo when there was not a big group there and the added noise will truly be a problem for us. This is a really good excuse to stay at the WL. Where I really wanted to be all along ;) .

We stayed in ASMu mid January 2003.
The room assignor did a very good job. The cheerleaders were in Jazz, with some in Broadway. They were pretty much to themselves and were a pretty good bunch. I don't know that they were Pop Warner specifically.
It makes the food courts very busy. But they usually are anyway.
The only incident that was irritating was when several busses were leaving in the very early hours on a Sunday and the cheerleaders were screeching and screaming at the top of their lungs until they left. I was surprised Disney didn't have anyone out there trying to quiet them down.
The following weekend the soccer players moved into ASMu and they made the cheerleaders look pretty good. ;) I was glad we were leaving then. But again, Disney seemed to be booking them away from the other guests. They were a lot louder and uncaring or whomever was around, from what we experienced and saw. Maybe because it was at the start of their trip they were wound up.
There did seem to be more cheerleaders and soccer players at ASSp.
ASMo seemed to have more of the families.

I don't know if they all do it this way, but...my DD is joining a dance company that goes to WDW once a year for a comp, usually in February-March. They won't allow the girls to stay with their parents, they are required to stay in rooms with several other girls and a coach. Not sure what the ratio is, but that may be why you don't see many parents! They probably choose to stay somewhere else, if they're even along. Diana

I was at ALMu with my daughter's high school drill team in February of this year. The girls are usually booked 4 to a room with parents staying nearby, at least in our case. We chose to make it that way so there would be at least a chaperone every few rooms down the line. Disney booked the teams in the bldgs furthest from the main building. Our girls had a midnight curfew, some did not. We were awakened by dancing in the room above us on a couple of nights, and knocking on doors and yelling to each other across the courtyard at all hours. It wasn't always the girls that were the problem either. Some of the parents were just as inconsiderate. This is not a place I would want to be if it were my vacation.

Pop Warners web site states that the actual cheer championships will be on wed thru friday of the 2nd week in dec. the beginning of the week and previous weekend is listed for ( midget competition?.) I don't have a clue to some of this but, am hoping all will be quiet and not overwhelming in the parks.
I think it's good we decided to stay at Royal Plaza this year in stead of on site. In any case I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the best vacation.;)

It seems like a lot of groups with noisy teens go to WDW. Perhaps Disney should consider a resort with a hostel-like set up.....far far away from the regular hotel rooms :)

We stayed at SPorts in Dec.2000 when the football players were there. We never had a problem with them. They were some of the nicest kids we have encountered. They were playing football on the field and they invited everyone regardless of age to play. The parents were always around and were the first to get to the kids if they were doing stuff that they werent supposed to be doing(which was almost next to never)They were more than happy to tell you all about their team(most of the ones we talked to were from California)I wouldnt hesitate to be at Sports again when they are down there.

We stayed at ASSp last March Break and over the week, it seemed more and more cheerleaders arrived. Our room was on the back side of a Touchdown building very near the front of the resort. It was very quiet there the whole week we stayed. All the activity seemed to be in the football field area and we could watch them practising as we walked over to the Food Court. The Food Court was busier at times but we had no problem finding a table. On our last morning it was swamped with girls in their uniforms and hair all done up in ringlets and ribbons, obviously this was the BIG DAY but we still found a table! We always expect the All Stars to be busy, so this didn't bother us at all.
