I booked it for the first week in October, then read some mixed reviews... Basically, the price is right, but you get what you pay for - small rooms and crowds of loud teenagers partying on the lawns at all hours...

Is it true? What are your experiences??

The bottom line is we will stay there anyway, but I just want to know what we should realistically expect.

Not entirely true. Yes, the rooms are small but we were in an outer building and it was very quiet at night. No problem at all with partying teenagers.

We actually enjoyed our stay at sports.

We have stayed there on our last two trips (last trip was split between Sports, Contemporary tower, and DCL cruise) and we are booked again for mid-October! My kids (3 and 5) love it, and DH and I really enjoy it too. We have not had any big problems with noise; however, on our last trip we did have a room on the ground floor right by the pool which did get some normal pool noise but it never went too late in the evening.
We really feel that for the money it is a wonderful place to stay. We enjoy the "busy" theming and the busy atmosphere. The food court at Sports is great (though sometimes the grill is pretty slow)--at the Poly and Contemporary, we kept wishing we had the All Star Sports food court! We like to use some of the money we save by staying at a Value to enjoy some of the restaurants at other resorts/parks.

The rooms are definitely on the small side but certainly adequate for 2 adults and two kids, and for a family like ours that basically just uses the resort for sleeping, showering, breakfast, and pool, and a lot of cute photo ops with the kids, All Star Sports has been ideal. We have loved the other places we have stayed too but do not feel bad at all about going back to this Value.

All Star resorts are not bad places to stay. We have stayed as ASMu and ASSp several times each. I have never had a problem with noise, but then again we all pretty much collapse when we get back to the room at night.

One thing you must be warned about: The AS resorts are starting to look really run down -chipped paint on exterior walls, excessive mold and mildew on things such as icons in front of buildings, frayed and fading bed linens, increasing reports of mildew in bathrooms, etc. Unless there has been a change of heart in the last several months Disney simply has not put the money or effort into keeping these resorts at the level they were even five years ago.

Sports is my favorite resort got to admit I haven't been there since Oct03 but I've stayed at Sports at least a dozen times since 98. I prefer the Touchdown buildings but not facing the football field. Stayed there once facing the football field and had some high school bands out there very early every mornin practicing lol At disney that didn't bother me to much tho was gonna be up soon if I wasn't already up any other hotel I'd have not been happy with the noise.

I'm hoping after my stay at POP in a few weeks DH will be ready to go back home to Sports next visit.

We had fun at sports, probably because I am the only girl in the family so of course the boys love it ;)

The bldgs looked nice when we were down last December. We did have some noise issues, but not terribly bad. The reason was we were there right in the middle of Pop Warner and that is what caused it. So since you aren't going at that time I wouldn't worry about it at all. We took lots of pictures around the resort because all my boys loved the sports themeing.

The rooms were a bit small, yes but that is to be a little expected. Its not like you are totally cramped right on top of one another though. But with kids it doesn't take long at all for your room to get cluttered really quick and make it seem like the walls are closing in on you. :)

I have not stayed at All Star Sports.
But for me the All Star Resorts can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in 1971. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney. :goodvibes
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic at the All Stars on his first visit. I can hardly wait.
When we pull up to check in and I see those huge icons I know I'm at Disney :earsboy: :earsgirl:
Have fun. I am sure you will love  it.

Only 82 more days

I love the All-Stars, and I have stayed at all the MK deluxes and also AKL, but I still love the All-Stars (have stayed at all 3). At the deluxes, I always leave feeling I really didn't get my money's worth, but at the All-Stars, I always feel like I got the best bargain Disney has to offer!!

Personally, I think that the rooms at the deluxes are small--I mean, for what they cost per night, I was expecting MUCH larger accomodations! Don't get me wrong, the deluxes are beautiful and I've had good stays every time, but I just truly don't think they are worth the outrageous cost. Every now and then we splurge on a deluxe just for the experience, but I know going in I'm going to feel that I did not get a great deal.

I have never noticed the All-Stars to be really noisy, and I am pretty sensitive to noise if I am trying to go to sleep. Now, tent-camping at Fort Wilderness---THAT is noisy!!! I think you are really going to enjoy the All-Stars. And think about the money you save by staying there, and all the other things you can buy with that money!!

Hope you have a great trip!!

I have stayed there a few times and the only time I had a problem with noise was when the cheer thing was going on.
You could ask to be put in a quite area. I do this and they usually put me upstairs not facing a courtyard.
I know the buses make stops at the other All Stars, but Sports is the first stop on the route. they do cram people in the buses tight, but from what I have seen, all resort buses pack em in like sardines.
yes, rooms are small. I couldn't imagine more than two to a room, but I suppose two adults and two kids could manage fine. have fun!

We were at the All-Star Sports in April 04 during high school baseball and softball practice/competition. The resort was full, mostly of teen-agers. My nephew, 16 at the time, thought he'd be able to meet kids his age at night at the pool after the parks closed. Three nights in a row he found only kids under the age of 9! We never heard any of the teenagers and when we did meet them in the food court or on the buses, they were all very polite.

We stayed at the Sports last month and it was great. My boys LOVED it. We had no problem with noise at all.
