HI!
I just booked a 5 day vacation package at the All Star Music Resort. My daughter and I are going with her dance troupe since she is performing there so I booked a different room for my husband and 2 sons.

I was wondering which sections are the preferred sections?

Are there any special activities for kids? How is the food court? How are the buses?

Thanks! We are really excited about trying the value resorts. They look like a lot of fun!

Yes! They have movies and games by the pool. I have never had any issues with the value buses except that they are usually packed! Besides that they are pretty quick and keep coming. I have heard that allstar resort share buses, but when we were there in November we did not share with anyone. Have fun! All the values have great theming.

I just booked ASMU for May17-22. Sounds like they have lots of things going on poolside. Looking forward to hearing about the food court!

We stayed at ASMu last April for the first time. The food court is fairly typical. The food was decent. They offered burgers, dessert, salads and chicken, pizza.
There was always plenty of seating, and we attended while there were bands and dance troops there.

We were there in November and I have to say that I would do a prefered room at ASMu because the walk to Broadway the building we were in was long each night.

Calypso will put you right near the main pool and very close to the main building as well. Whatever you do, don't accept Country Fair - that's where we stayed and it's a very long hike to the buses. Very long.;)

I payed for the preferred location, but requested bld #10. Hope we get that! Would be a short walk over to ASMO if we want to eat at that food court one day! The rooms look very nice.

Anyone else going to be there in May????

We'll be there in May, the 6th through the 13th...staying in the Family Suites...very psyched :yay: . I'm thinking of requesting Calypso bld. 10 also, based upon some others who have stayed in the family suites. Our family generally is not bothered by noise but we need to be close to the pool and food court as with little ones we seem to go back and forth alot.

And after walking all day at the parks, I don't want to spend my resort time walking forever and ever...

I agree, Calypso would probably be the best choice since it's right near one of the pools, and is the closest to the food court/ lobby/ buses, but Jazz (where we stayed) was about the same distance.

We just got back from ASMu on Wednesday & it was great. Stayed in a standard room @ Jazz - Building 9. Short walking distance to everything. We were in a wing with family suites on the ground floor, our room was the closest to the parking lot. However, the back side of our building faced a small playground which seemed to get alot of use by little ones. Lots of activities going on = dance contests, movies by the pool, BINGO and some other things that I don't specifically remember, but each day was something different. Of course there was a DJ by the pool in the afternoon and that seemed to be a real big hit!

Food court was good - the only thing I wish I had tried was the pizza. Lots of families were getting whole pizzas & taking them to the end of the food court to watch TV.

Enjoy your trip!!

Hi: Were the beds comfortable inthe music resort. Also how was the condition of the room?

Deb.

All the rooms at ASMu are new! They are great! They look so much better than the old value look. The beds are actually really comfy! Country Fair is a long walk but it is much quieter than the other buildings.

Haha, when ever we go to Disney, we are out early and stay out late at night with the kids. It completely takes a few weeks to deprogram the kids. :rotfl: :rotfl: Why I am I telling you this?

Because we slept like rocks there. So I'm not terribly sure it was because of the beds, or it is just our exhaustion, but I'd put my money on the beds. They felt really comfortable to us. And my wife is pretty picky as far as mattresses go, and she slept like a rock as well.

We stayed in Jazz building and the rooms were all redone there. I cannot comment on the other buildings. Enjoy!! You'll have a blast!

I asked and all the rooms have been renovated at ASMu. I think it was done some time last summer.

So happy to hear about the DJ and movies. Anyone know what movies were shown or was it just the channel from inside the food court?

Just returned yesterday from ASMu. Yes all the rooms have been refurbished, and the beds were very comfortable. They had daily activities by the pool...we did not attend, but they had very cool things (kareoke, bingo, WII Nintendo bowling tournament)....the movies at the pool were different every night (Ratatouille, High School Musical, Finding Nemo)...it was cold a couple of the nights, so there weren't alot of people watching....but on a warm night, sitting by the pool, watching a movie and having a pizza sounds like fun!

Only issue I had was with my booked room (have a thread running now). I booked preferred, but upon check in, was told there were none available, and was placed in a standard (Rock building, just in front of Country Fair) and it is VERY far from the food court/transportation. I'm learning now, that just because you book preferred, doesn't mean you'll get it. Be aware the value's are where large tour groups will also stay, so the food court will be very busy during peak hours.

OH wow I booked a preferred room so that DH and the kids would be close to the bus stop and the food court. I find it odd that you would not get that after paying extra for it!

The resort must be really big if it takes a long time just to get to your room from the bus stop!

But Frito, didn't you pay more per night for the preferred room? If yes, did they only charge you for the standard room?
