hi we are staying at the all star movies...why? because i am love love love 101 dalmatians!

Has anyone stayed at the all star movies resort before? if so do you have any tips?

Does anyone know any special requests that can be made i.e. better rooms etc?

Thanks for any info everyone! :cool1:

Also i have just read that tips should be left out daily for the cleaners...how much do i leave?

Hi lorapinky!

We stayed at All Star Movies last December and we loved it! Wew were in the Dalmations Section which you can request.

The Dalmations section was 2 minute walk to the pool, food court and shop. There are lots of nice touches in the resort like the bones on the floor in Dalmations, the TV which is a great photo opportunity.

I will find out my Trip Report which mentioned ASMo and post it for you.

If you have any questions as all please ask and I will do my best to help!

For the Mousekeepers (daily room service cleaners) we left $2 per day. They did some great things with my DDs cuddly toys!'

When are you going and who are you going with so I can try and think of tips suitable for you and your travelling companions?

Cheers

Karen

Hope this helps a bit, it's from my Trip Report.

Overall impressions of All Star Movies

We loved it! Yes the rooms are quite small but we found them absolutely ample for the four of us and all our luggage (we had a lot!). The room was extremely clean and nicely themed. The furnishings are bold and brash and don’t feel deluxe in any way, but that is exactly what I had expected. The grounds were beautifully kept and the large Disney icons were a huge hit with the children as well as us! There are lots of little touches all round the resort that act as a constant reminder that you are on Disney property.

We thought the reception area was great; there was a lovely big TV screen showing Disney movies and this kept the girls entertained on several occasions (including one when we had to post a parcel and it took over an hour for the CM to work out how to do it!). The shop was every Disney fan’s merchandising dream with a great selection of toys, games, clothes, plushes and all the other bits and pieces you expect in a Disney shop. There were lots of sweets, cookies and crisps and the like and they also sold small bottles of spirits behind the counter. We were very happy with the cocktails served at the pool bar! The food court had a pretty good selection and was a reasonably pleasant dining experience – far superior to a similar set up in the UK but obviously it is cafeteria style. We thought the prices were reasonable – not as cheap as going offsite but you could easily feed a family of four for one meal for $25 or so. The refillable mugs saved us an absolute fortune! The girls gave the arcade a big thumbs up. We thought the pools were great - unfortunately we didn't get the chance to enjoy them much due to the weather!

We found the bus service excellent. The longest we waited was twenty minutes – unluckily for us that was on a cold and windy night! But apart from that time, I think we waited for under ten minutes for every other journey. I wish our local bus service - which allegedly follows a timetable but often fails to show up - was as good! It felt like a luxury to not have to drive and it is ideal when you consider how close to the parks you get dropped off and picked up. We did have to stand a few times, but it’s not like it is ever a long journey!

Overall, and bearing in mind the price we paid to stay here, the resort was even better than our expectations had been. Massive thumbs up from the Goviers!

ASMo is great!

That's where we're going (again, for me) this time. My boyfriend DESPERATELY wants to stay in the Toy Story blocks, so I am PRAYING that they will have something available there (if not, I'll be asking for Fantasia, then Dalmatians, then I don't care! lol!).

We stayed in the Mighty Ducks blocks last time, but I'm not fussy - it's my boyfriend!

Either way, it is possibly the most 'Disney' of the Disney hotels.

ETA: Oh my goodness! I see Woody now has a little movie reel railing around his feet where there wasn't before - when I was there last my dad tried to 'climb' onto one of his shoes (until a CM politely told him that it could encourage the children..)!

Hi

We stayed last year in Dalmations. The rooms were a tad small, but thats to be expected really. It is definately big enough for 2 adults and even 2 children.

This yr I am going with my dh, 3 children aged 5, 1 and 1. Once the boys turn 2 we are unable to stay so this is the last time we can stay :sad1:

We have requested Toy Story with our booking as my daughter saw Buzz and really wants to stay there. We have been advised to fax the hotel a week before and a day before requesting Toy Story this might help with our request. We shall see.

The resort is great with all the themes. You wont be disssapointed. We love it there!

Hope you have a great time!

ASMo is brilliant. We stayed in Dalmatians Building which is great. My DD loved the resort.
Here are a few of the photo's we took Here

thank you everyone!

I am going with my fiance, we are actually getting married at disney whilst we are there so its gonna be a very special time for us!

Reading your comments have made me even more excited if that is at all possible! We are flying on the 1st of september and coming back on the 18th! I am a huge dalmatians fan i am even having cruella de vil at the wedding :rotfl2:

Thank you all again for your kind replies!

WOW! Lorapinky, can't wait for your trip report! I'm staying at ASMo too and am just as excited,
have a quick question, does anyone know if they sell autograph books and pens in the gift shop? I'm presuming they will so it'll be one less thing to get ahead

Im 99% sure they do, its quite a big gift shop and they sell loads of different stuff Carol.

Yes i think they do! I have read the disney guide and in it says that you can buy them so i am very confident you can! If for some strange reason you cant! (and this is very unlikely) get signatures on pieces of card then you can put them in tour photo album...it will look great next to a photo of whoever the signatures belongs to!

There were two types of autograph book in the ASMo store in April, one was just the standard blank-page type ($7) and the other was a 'Cinderella's Princess Court' book, each page having room for one autograph and one 6x4 photo. We got this one for our dd. It cost $10 and I think it held 30 or 32 photos. It's a great keepsake especially if you can get a pic of whoever with the character!

Yay! thanks folks,
p.s. Night -train, are the refillable mugs free??? :rotfl2:

Carolfoy:

I think the mugs are $12/$13, and you can only refill them in the resort you purchased them in. I believe TL and BB have their own versions too.

I don't know whether to buy them for my kids because they're not keen on fizzies. I asked on another thread what drinks are available and it seems that its mainly fizzies, coffee, and chocolate. I'll get me and DH one each, but think I'll have to buy kids OJ or water from the supermarkets.

I imagine you can refill them with water at the resorts - although I'm not sure!

I only drink water though - same for my BF :teeth:

Apologies folks, didn't really need to know! just remembered John (night trains) trip report, if in any doubt whether refills are free then read his report! :flower:

I am so looking to staying at asmo,

I have heard so many great things about it

any tips for a first timer to asmo

The pools are open till midnight and late eve is a really nice time to swim as theres usually no one else there and it feels great after a hot day in the parks.

The rice crispy mickey ears covered in chocolate which they sell in the food court are really nice....

Also in the food court for breakfast they sell pancakes with chocolate chips which are lovely but not the best thing to have before setting off to the parks as they lay on your stomach all day!

Amonth till our trip to All Star Movies and our hopper passes have just dropped thru the door :earboy2:
