Thinking about booking there, Toy Story building. Anyone have any good or bad reviews or tips? TIA.

Hi. We stayed at ALSMO back in August 2002. So this won't be a very recent review. It was myself, DH and my 3 year old DD. We stayed in the Fantasia section, which is a preferred section. It was very close to the main pool, checkin, laundry and the bus stop. Toy Story is not too far away and is a little closer to the check in and bus stop area. The themeing is big, bright and very Disney. My 4 DD loved it. Many great photo opportunities.

The pool was nice, Mickey spouts a fountain of water, which was fun. Game room wasn't anything special, but again, fun for little kids.

The room was a little dark and fairly small. But if you're going to be in the parks, or pool most of the time, it's more than adaquate. We found Mousekeeping to be very efficient. Very clean. We were on the 3rd floor around the corner from the elevator, so it was a little bit of a walk to get downstairs, but it was quiet. Good combination of quiet, yet not far from everything.

The food in the food court was pretty basic, but for a quick snack, hamburger, sandwich or pizza pretty good. We bought refillable mugs and really got our moneys worth out of it. DH is a huge cola drinkers and is up at 5:00 am, so he certainly got alot of use out of his mug.

The only issue we had was with the buses. Since ALSMO is the last to be picked up, it was crowded by the time it picked us up in the morning. However, I've heard since then that WDW has changed this and now a seperte bus runs from each resort at park opening. Still, we always made it on the bus, just had to stand once or twice. Or it's not a long walk to the All Star Music and you can creep in line here.

I say if you have young kids, or are on a budget and plan on spending time most of your time in the parks, go for it. You won;t be disappointed. But if you're looking for a little more grown up atmosphere or amenities, try a moderate. (We liked PORiverside and POFQ)

We have stayed at ASMo twice, and absolutely loved it! The theming is just perfect for kids, and we loved the Disney feel, 24/7. We stayed in the Toy Story section for our first visit. This was a wonderful location, although I hear all rooms in this section are now considered preferred. This area is close to the main building, pool and bus stops. We stayed in the Love Bug section last year. Besides being quite a hike to everything, we enjoyed that area as well.

We really enjoyed the food court. There was something for everyone. I wouldn't say the food was anything special, but it was tasty and quick.

In general, the buses weren't a problem. They were always full, but not too bad. They were packed coming home from the parks at the end of a night, but I would expect that anywhere.

We really had nothing bad to say about ASMo, and would certainly stay there again!

I used to be a die-hard deluxe resorts fan. Well, last year, I took a trip on a whim and wanted to spend the least amount of money possible and just booked the All Star Movies Resort. I had never been there. I was stunned by the service that I got and how cute it all was. The service that I received was just as good as the Grand Floridian! I'm not joking! True, it didn't have the landscaping and the music and the fru-fru and the monorail, but service means more to me than anything, and I had a quiet room in the Love Bug building. Mousekeeping had put the cutest towel animals in my immaculately clean room. The beds slept the same (in fact, the beds felt a little more comfy). I thought that the window displays that they did were adorable. I had NEVER seen that at any Disney resort. I felt like I was the only one in my building, and that was fine with me. I'm not a sit-down restaurant type person anyway (I'm more grab-and-go), and I LOVED the food court. The selections were incredible, the food court was huge, and there was plenty of room to sit. The only thing to watch out for is the crowds to the bus stops in the morning, but I just hung back and waited a little while and except for one time, I never had to stand on a bus. The buses come by there more frequently than at the deluxe resorts (IMHO). But, I've noticed the buses are crowded at any resort. I heard someone write somewhere that there was nowhere to sit at the bus stop, and that's not true. There's benches under the awning, and of course, you can always sit on the letters.

The resort was just adorable, and I loved the decor of the bathroom with its film tiles. The resort reminded me of the Disneyland Resort in CA with the hall of photographs. And, it just made me feel that I was at Disney.

So, for my annual big trip this November, I booked the Movies resort again and requested my beloved Love Bug building. I was originally going to book the GF, and rethought it and then, of course, after calculating the savings from staying there versus the GF, the decision was easy to make, especially after getting the Movies resort for $84 AAA rate. You can't beat that!

It all comes down to your personality and what is important to you. The deluxe resorts are magical, but so is the Movies Resort. I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky person, and I've now discovered that the things that makes the deluxe resorts expensive are not really things that I care about. And, with the extra money saved, I can spend them on more treats to add to my vacation. And, that DOES matter!

a personal letter requesting Toy Story. Last time we went I did this. We were give a primo room...the corner room beside Woody. When we opened our door we were in Andy's room. The real magic, tho, was what they did for my son. When I checked in they called him over and told him that Buzz and Woody had heard he was coming for a visit and had left something for him.

They brought out a red, white, and blue balloon bouquet with a card...a color photo of Buzz and Woody, with a note for my son and their "signatures". He was over the moon!

Last time I spent days on the phone trying to request that we be placed in Toy Story, but everyone I talked to said that they weren't the people who assign rooms. When we got there I was SO glad that I'd given up on phone and decided to sent the letter instead.

You never know, give it a try...you might have some magic waiting for you when you get there!

We never stayed in Toy Story, but the Dalmation section was excellent. Great, great, great location - theming awesome.

We've only stayed at the Contemporary, but tomorrow my older daughter (19) and I are going to Disney and staying at the All Star Movie. This was a late minute trip and we too didn't want to break the bank-especially since the other kids aren't going. We hope it is as cute as it is in the on-line photos. Don't think we will get a chance to swim. We arrive and then it's off to the P&P party. Next day Epcot then home.

Thanks for the info, very helpful. We will give ASMOvies a go. My kids love toy story. Would be great if we get that building. What is the address you write to, to request a room there? Is the food court like a Mall food court?

No, its much more convenient. You have 5 different sections to get stuff. Four of them are food stalls of all kinds of different foods (each with their own menu). And one of them is like a little market with self-serve coolers to get bottled drinks, prepackaged items, and such. Then you proceed to the registers to pay. The hard part is deciding what you want.... ha ha. They have all kinds of things, and my first day, I just stood in the middle trying to figure out what I wanted. But, I got the hang of what's where after a day or so, and would go in and grab what I wanted. The morning is the most congested time, but I don't think I ever felt crowded. The rest of the day is very light. The pictures on this website are a great resource to see how the layout is, and it shows how non-crowded it can be.
